OCZ releases EL DDR IC in speeds up to DDR500 (4ns) for ultra high speed DDR modules
SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA
OCZ Technology Group would like to announce the availability of 466Mhz and 500Mhz OCZ EL DDR ICs. OCZ Technology EL DDR ICs are intended for use in system memory for bandwidth intensive applications that can take advantage of the increased memory speeds. OCZ technology plans to use these ICs in our PC-3700 and PC-4000 EL DDR modules, as we gain motherboard support for enhanced latency DDR.
"We will continue to lead the market with the fastest DDR ICs available" said Bhulinder Sethi, VP of Marketing. "Our only concern at this point is garnering support from motherboard and chipset manufacturers as Jedec continues to lag behind. At this time only ABIT has been able to provide motherboard support for DDR500 modules " For more information about our new EL DDR466 and EL DDR500 visit its product information page.

Ora bem como podem ver na noticia apenas esperam por boards que suportem e aproveitem estas rams. Vejam estes relatos de alguem que trabalha para a OCZ:
"We did have the 466 running at stock voltage on a abit IT7 with a C1 2.4a at 466 2-3-6-3 at comdex this week all week looping 3dmark
I am sure thats not impresive for this forums , but hell I though it was decent.
...
Yup I saw them , what I gathered is that they were running at CL3 although with the right memory controller they could do beter .
Keep in mind guys the limit is normally chipset or motherboard related. We could make faster silicon all day long , the theoretical maximum for DDR I is fairly high on the silicon level , look at video card ram , there are some difrences but it should give you a idea.
the reasons jedec wont ratify above 333 are political , is that its simpler to make a unform product for everyone if its something that can be easily acheived ( by say one of the crappier chip makers on a .25 micron process)
Keep in mind the current OCZ EL ddr ( only sam is using a .13 so far) are built on the .16 process , wait till the die shrink (.13) happens to see some real chip speed increases
...
There are new chipsets coming that will allow some very nice things including unofficial DDR 466 and 500 support
regarless , its just a PR that the chips are availible , I would not expect a PC-4000 module from OCZ quite yet , PC-3700 yes but PC-4000 modules wont be avaible from OCZ until we are sure people can use them effectively. This is sooner that you think , but not tomorow.
The 500Mhz chips currently are being sold into some other markets, IE they are not used for OCZ memory modules ( 466 modules are in sample form only, full production starts late next week , 500 modules are waiting on a new PCB design ) , but for other apllications or to other module manufacturers.
