OnePlus 8 e 8 Pro

Alleged OnePlus 8 Pro diagrams leak with a quad-camera setup

Even though OnePlus only announced the 7T last month, the next OnePlus flagship should already be under development. The latest leak comes from TrueTech in the form of diagrams obtained by an unnamed source, showing off the alleged design of the upcoming OnePlus 8 Pro.

Believe it or not, a set of renders that are over a month old at this point showed designs identical to these diagrams. The overall design of the phone resembles a slightly tweaked OnePlus 7 Pro with some key differences.

Starting with the backside, the triple camera is laid out in a similar fashion, but with a couple of extras. The circular cutout to the left of the top camera is a ToF sensor, used to improve depth sensing on portrait photos. Just below that is a slit which is said to contain hardware for laser AF.

As per these diagrams, there are two different versions of the front of the phone. One with a single front-camera cut out of the display and another with dual selfie cameras. The renders from last month showed a single camera but thing could change as OnePlus finalizes its design. Chances are the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro (should there be two of them) could each have one or two selfie cameras, respectively. Atop the display is a long earpiece.

OnePlus 8 Pro

Power key, volume rocker, and alert slider placement all appears to be identical to that of the current-generation OnePlus 7/7T Pro.

We aren’t expecting to see a new OnePlus for at least another half a year - the OnePlus 7 Pro launched back in May. Other rumors for the next OnePlus phone include a 120 Hz display and wireless charging.

OnePlus 8 Pro photos surface along with more info for the entire lineup

As we've seen from renders the upcoming OnePlus 8 Pro will have a punch hole selfie camera, leaving pop-up cameras and notches behind. The phone was captured on camera in the wild, offering another look at its front and back.

The new AMOLED screen will go up to 120Hz refresh rate (from 90Hz on the 7 and 7T). The Pro model will also have four cameras on its back plus a 3D ToF sensor, which you can see next to the vertical camera bump. The main camera is expected to use the 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor (0.8µm pixels).

The battery will reportedly grow in capacity to 4,500mAh and will support 50W charging (up from 4,085mAh and 30W on the 7T Pro).

The vanilla OnePlus 8 will have essentially the same design (save for the extra hardware on the back), but will be smaller than the Pro. Both phones will come in Gray and Blue, says the source that shared the images above. An Olive Green or Matte Gold could be added to the palette later.

Both phones are expected to be unveiled in April with sales commencing in May. Originally, they were planned for an earlier launch, but the COVID-19 situation impacted development and production schedules.

The third model has been called "OnePlus 8 Lite", but this latest leak claims that the actual name will be OnePlus 8s. It will be powered by a Dimensity 1000L chipset and will come out towards the end of the second quarter (so around July). It was delayed as the outbreak slowed its development.
