Opera goes to eleven
Opera 11 beta is now available for download from
www.opera.com/browser/next/. The beta is loaded with new features. Some are new, while others are improvements to existing Opera features like tabs and mouse gestures.
Stack it like it's hot
We introduced tabs in Opera 1.0 back in 1995 (omg, long time ago) and we've continued to add new revolutionary things ever since. Visual tabs was just another step leading up to tab stacking. To try Tab stacking, simply install the beta and drag one tab over another. Release with your mouse. This will create your very own tab stack. Check out our tutorial video to learn more.
Visual Mouse Gestures
Mouse Gestures is an addictive feature in Opera. With Opera 11, we've made it even easier to get started. Hold down the right mouse button and you get a visual feedback what you can do with mouse gestures.
Extend Opera with new functionality
Opera 11 beta now supports extensions that let you customize the browser to your liking with all kinds of new functionality. Our keen community has already developed over 100 great extensions for you to try -- and this is just the beginning! You can download new extensions from
Opera's extensions catalog, and install them with a single click on the "Install" button beside the extensions you wish to use.
Search suggestions -- featuring Google search predictions
In Opera 10.60, search suggestions were introduced, but now Opera has teamed up with Google to let you use popular Google Search predictions right in the browser. Just search with the search field, or precede a search from the address field with the "g" keyword and you'll see likely searches pop up in Opera that you can instantly select to save you time and typing.

Tab Stacking is here
Last week we already introduced you to some new features in Opera 11. Today we release Opera 11 beta with a new surprise feature: tab stacking.
How do you like your tabs? Many of us like tabs and lots of them.
We've added functionality to enhance your tab experience. Tab stacking allows you to organize your browsing, optimize the space on your tab bar, and keep yet even more tabs handy for use.
Dragging and dropping tabs on top of one another creates stacks. Hovering a stack gives a visual overview of what's inside the stack. Expanding and collapsing stacks allows you to optimize the space on your tab bar any way you like.
So, if you're already using lots of tabs, you might want to:
- Stack for looking at later
- Stack for different tasks
- Stack for checking out after work
- Stack for just creating more space for tabs
Whatever you like to do with your tabs, tab stacking should help you organize, identify, and access lots of content directly on the tab bar.
