Oppo Find X5 Pro goes official with Hasselblad camera, custom Marisilicon X NPU

The Oppo Find X5 series arrives with notable improvements to image processing, battery tech and even build quality. The new series debuts with two similar phones, one vanilla and Pro model. We will focus on the Oppo Find X5 Pro here, the vanilla model is covered in a separate article.

Like the Find X3 models, the X5 phones have two 50MP cameras (wide and ultrawide) based on the Sony IMX766 sensor (1/1.56”, 1.0 µm), however, the associated support hardware and processing algorithms have become more advanced.

The 6nm MariSilicon X chip accounts for much of the improvements. It runs AI noise reduction and other image processing tasks. It enables 4K Ultra Night Video, which has less noise and better colors than typical night video. This mode is available with both the wide and ultra wide cameras.

Oppo claims that its custom chip allows the phone to capture HDR video at 20-bits per channel, which translates to 120 dB dynamic range (four times greater than the Find X3 Pro).

The Pro mode has the Hasselblad Natural Color Calibration feature, which relies on the new 13-channel color sensor (replacing the 5-channel sensor on the X3 generation). Also, Oppo is using a glass front element on the cameras, which improves color accuracy and reduces chromatic aberration. The legendary camera maker also helped develop the Master filters so you can add some style to your photos with a couple of taps.

The wide camera boasts a new 5-axis optical image stabilization system that combines lens and sensor shift tech, the first of its kind on mobile, says Oppo. It can correct hand-shaking up to 3° and is used for both photos and videos (electronic stabilization is used as well). As for the ultrawide camera, it only has 110° field of view, which isn’t all that wide (but it's as much as the X3 Pro had).

The telephoto camera didn’t get much love this generation, it seems to be the same with a 13MP sensor and 2x optical magnification (52mm) and 5x hybrid zoom.

The selfie camera uses the custom Sony IMX709 sensor with RGBW sub-pixels. That white sub-pixel allows the sensor to capture 60% more light, but processing RGBW data is tricky, so that task is again handed off to the MariSilicon chip. Also, the camera defaults to 80° FoV but will switch to 90° automatically when it detects a group selfie.

Staying on the front of the new Oppo Find X5 Pro, there is a 6.7” AMOLED display with a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. It is a 3,216 x 1,440 px LTPO panel with 10-bit color rendering and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. The touch sampling can hit 1,000Hz so tht the phone can react instantaneously.

The display peaks at 1,300 nits of brightness, and offers 8,192 brightness levels so it can find the perfect brightness in any ambient conditions. Also, the display has been color calibrated at various brightness levels to ensure it remains picture perfect.

The X5 Pro is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance as you would expect. The front of the phone is guarded by Gorilla Glass Victus, the back is ceramic, which is twice as strong as a glass panel. The phone is essentially the same size as the X3 Pro, however, the ceramic is heavier than glass and the whole device tips the scales at 218g (up from 193g). On the plus side ceramic has better heat conductivity than glass, which improves cooling.

This is great for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, which has lots of power, but needs good cooling to maintain it. The phone arrives with ColorOS 12.1 out of the box, based on Android 12. The 0.1 update brings refined aesthetics and improved privacy and security features over ColorOS 12. Also new is the Multi-Screen Connect feature, which allows you to seamlessly switch between the phone and your Windows PC.

Oppo managed to fit a larger battery inside the X5 Pro, 5,000 mAh (up from 4,500 mAh). It also improved charging speeds both with and without wires. The Pro phone supports 80W SuperVOOC, which does the 0-50% sprint in 12 minutes. Wireless charging got faster too with 50W AirVOOC, which can do a full charge in 47 minutes.

We know what some of you think about fast charging and so does Oppo. This is where the Battery Health Engine comes in – it prolongs the battery’s longevity so that it will survive 1,600 charge cycles before it degrades to 80% capacity (that is significantly longer than a typical phone battery which drops to 80% after 800 cycles).

Another feature that improves the battery’s longevity is the 3D graphene film that covers the charging coil and the motherboard. When using the 50W wireless charger, the phone stays 3° cooler compared to “some competitors”. A graphite film helps keep the display driver chip and the display itself cool. And for the Snapdragon chipset, there is a vapor chamber that is 75% larger than on the previous generation.

The phone has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. There is only one wired port, USB-C, wireless connectivity includes a “360° smart antenna” and two always-on power amps. This system has four antennas and the phone automatically switches to one wit the strongest signal.

The Oppo Find X5 Pro is available for pre-order starting today, open sales will begin on March 14. It will be available in one configuration – 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage – with a €1,300 price tag. It will come in Ceramic White and Glaze Black.

Oppo Find X5 announced with Snapdragon 888, same camera sensors as the X5 Pro

Oppo unveiled two flagships today – the Oppo Find X5 and the X5 Pro. While the Pro is clearly top dog, the vanilla model actually has many of the same cool hardware features, including the Hasselblad Natural Color Calibration feature and the custom 6nm MariSilicon X image processing chip.

Oppo Find X5 announced with Snapdragon 888, almost the same camera as the X5 Pro

Here the custom chip is paired with the Snapdragon 888 (instead of the 8 Gen 1), which is hooked up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. It runs the same ColorOS 12.1 (based on Android 12) with visual and privacy improvements, plus the new Multi-Screen Connect feature that allows you to seamlessly switch between using your phone and you Windows PC.

The X5 is smaller and has a 6.55” OLED display. It has 1,080 x 2,400 px resolution and while it is not an LTPO panel, it still offers 120Hz refresh rate. The back is covered with matte glass (available in Black and White), plus a fingerprint-resistant frame.

It’s not just the MariSilicon chip, the Find X5 has a camera setup very similar to the Pro. This includes two IMX766 equipped cameras, wide and ultra wide. The 1/1.56” sensors have 1.0µm pixels and support binning. The wide camera has OIS, but it's the regular kind and not the 5-axis optical stabilization that is exclusive to the Pro.

Also on the back is a 13MP telephoto camera (52mm lens, 2x optical magnification). On the front is a 32MP selfie camera, which uses an older IMX615 sensor (so no RGBW filter) and the lens has only 81° FoV (compared to 90° on the Pro).

The battery is a tad smaller at 4,800 mAh (vs. 5,000 mAh on the X5 Pro), but it is 300 mAh bigger than the X3 battery. It supports the same 80W SuperVOOC fast wired charging (up from 65W on the X3), wireless charging has been demoted to the still fast 30W AirVOOC.

The X5 boasts a multi-tier cooling system similar to the Pro that includes an extra large vapor chamber. However, it lacks an IP dust or water resistance rating. The 360° antenna is still on board, for a stable 5G connection.

The Oppo Find X5 is available for pre-order now at a price of €1,000 for the 8/256 GB option (the only one to be available in Europe), open sales start on March 14. Buyers have a choice between Black and White colorways.

Oppo unveils Find X5 Lite with Dimensity 900 chip

Today’s event focused on the Oppo Find X5 and Find X5 Pro, but standing right behind them was the Oppo Find X5 Lite. Not a completely new model, in truth it is essentially a the same as the Reno7 5G. This means that the hardware echoes that of the X5 series, but even the design makes it clear that this model comes from a different line.

The Lite model has basically the same dimensions as the X5, but the screen is smaller at 6.43” (vs. 6.55”). To its credit, it has 1,080 x 2,400 px resolution and HDR10+ support, but the refresh rate is only 90 Hz (vs. 120 Hz) and DCI-P3 coverage only goes up to 76% (vs. 100%). The touch sampling rate is up to 180 Hz for up to two fingers. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, but there is no official IP rating for dust or water resistance.

Oppo unveils Find X5 Lite with Dimensity 900 chip, Enco X2 with improved ANC

The phone is powered by the Dimensity 900, a mid-range 6 nm chipset. It is paired with 8 GB of RAM (LPDDR4X at 2,133 Hz) and 256 GB of UFS 2.2 (2 lanes HS-Gear3) storage. Unlike its siblings, this model does have a microSD slot for easy expansion. And there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack as well.

Going back to the RAM for a moment, the phone runs ColorOS 12.1 (based on Android 12), which has a RAM Expansion feature that can add 5 GB of virtual RAM.

The phone’s 4,500 mAh battery is smaller than its siblings, but it’s the same size as the X3 Pro from last year. And with 65W charging, it’s just as fast to top up – a full charge takes 31 minutes, but if you’re in a hurry to get back to your game, 5 minutes of charging will be enough for 2 hours of play. There is no wireless charging on this model.

Oppo confirms collaboration with Hasselblad on Find X5 series

Oppo officially announced it will collaborate with iconic Swedish photography brand Hasselblad on the imaging system of the upcoming Find X5 series. This comes as no surprise given the myriad of Find X5 Pro leaks which showed out the Hasselblad logo. It remains to be seen if the collaboration will be limited to color calibration and camera interface design like on last year’s OnePlus 9 Pro or if we’ll get some additional Hasselblad image tuning.

The imaging system on the Find X5 is expected to use a Sony IMX766 – a 50MP, 1/1.56” sensor with 1.0 µm pixels for the main and ultrawide cams while the telephoto module will use a 13MP sensor with 5x optical zoom. Oppo’s self-developed MariSilicon X NPU chip will also be part of the equation handling image processing and the omni-directional autofocus system.

In related Find X5 news, notable leakster Digital Chat Station shared that Oppo’s in-house five-axis stabilization system is in mass production. This is the same module that was showcased at Oppo’s camera event last summer.

The global Oppo Find X5 Pro bearing the CPH2305 model number was also spotted in a Geekbench listing rocking the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 12GB RAM. The phone managed 1,256 single-core points and a 3,420-point outing in the multi-core department.

Tens a dita barra @velias ?

Malta,

Vai substituir o meu pixel 6a, fartei-me do carregamento lento, impressão digital e alguns bugs menores.
