Os discos rigidos?

É o seguinte, no meu desktop tenho dois discos:

disk 1 - 3partições: WinXP + FAT + ubuntu
disk 2 - NTFS

até aqui na boa, o ubuntu reconhecia a partição FAT, a do XP e o disco NTFS

Mas ontem instalei o kubuntu e este não encontrava nenhum dos discos.
Voltei a instalar ubuntu e continua sem apresentar os discos

Na pasta /media/ só lá estão os leitores de dvd e de disquetes

que asneira é que fiz desta vez?
 
não acontece nada:

Formatei o primeiros disco e voltei a particionar e a instalar o windows e o ubuntu; e está na mesma.

No windows xp vejo os discos e partições, no ubuntu nada.

Edit: Meti o LiveDVD do SuperGamer 2 PCLinuxOS, vou a media/ e está lá tudo direitinho, partição do windows e tudo

Destas ultimas vezes que liguei o PC o tipo começou a apitar e o monitor ficou preto.

depois de fazer reset aquilo abriu logo a BIOS e diz:

e em CPU Speed tá 2533MHz que é o certo para o meu P4 2.5Ghz
