Os anteriores foram bons FPS e o GeoMod era uma das tecnologias mais inovadoras na altura, que ainda hoje é capaz de envergonhar muitos FPS que por aí andam. Veremos o que este nos traz.Almost five years have passed since Red Faction 2 appeared on the PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox and PC, so today’s announcement that a third game from the series was in development was largely unexpected. Confirmed during THQ’s quarterly earnings call earlier today, Red Faction 3 will be developed by Volition, the same studio that developed the first two titles in the franchise, as well as last year’s well-received Saints Row on the Xbox 360.
"Last quarter, we announced Saints Row 2. Today, we are confirming the next Red Faction game," said THQ boss Brian Farrell in a conference call to investors today, adding that the game won’t see the light of day until THQ’s next fiscal year - so not before 31 March 2008, in other words. Giving Halo 3 a wide berth is probably a wise move.
The first two games received above-average marks from critics, yet special praise was reserved for the "GeoMod" engine that featured in each title. This proprietary technology allowed players to destroy almost any part of the game’s environment, whereas past games had allowed only limited demolition of the environment, and usually through scripted means.
Such a feature on today’s consoles won’t raise quite as many eyebrows, but we’re still eager to see what the Volition boys and girls will be able to offer gamers in a crowded FPS market.
