Tom Clancy's EndWar (RTS)

Normalmente RTS em consolas não funciona muito bem... no entanto e atendendo às previews e videos de jogo, parece-me que o melhor RTS para 2008 está para sair só para consolas :D

Preview 1
Yeah, it works. Best to get that out of the way early. Because if you've been paying the slightest attention to Ubisoft Shanghai's ambitious and risky attempt to reinvent the real-time strategy genre on console, it really all boils down to one question. And that, in short, is the answer. Voice command in EndWar? It works. Really well, actually.
Preview 2
The structure of New York (mapa de jogo) gave each team two easy capture points and then placed the last smack in the middle. We managed to get there first, but quickly found that you need more than speed to win. You see, EndWar also has a WMD system to give players devastating alternatives to old fashioned skirmishes. Tactical nukes, air strikes and more can turn the tide at a moment's notice. After we took the third base a nuke got dropped on it, wiping it out entirely and leaving just four capture points. At the same time, unbeknownst to us, our first base was being attacked in a surprise assault at our weak underbelly. Exposed, it was only a matter of time before our army crumbled.

Tom Clancy's EndWar (previously known as Tom Clancy's Firehawk)[2] is a real-time strategy game for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC platforms

A unica coisa que me desperta a atenção são os comandos por voz, de resto não me parece nada por aí além.

EndWar dev: PS3 360 cross platform is 'impossible'

Because Sony and MS 'don't like speaking to each other'.

Ubisoft "wished" it could allow PS3 and Xbox 360 owners to play upcoming voice-command strategy game Tom Clancy's EndWar against each other but decided it was "impossible" because Sony and Microsoft "don't like speaking to each other", Julian Gerighty, editorial content director at Ubisoft Shanghai told VideoGamer.com at Ubidays last week.

EndWar, which is set for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 simultaneously this October or November, is a console-only strategy game which can be played entirely through voice command. Set in the near future, players pick from the Americans, Europeans and Russians and attempt to dominate the world in WW3.

Gerighty's comments come as no surprise - we've never seen a video game that has allowed owners of Sony and Microsoft consoles to play against each other, and are never likely to either.

"I wish we could play cross-platform," he told VideoGamer.com. "That would be nice. It's impossible. Sony and Microsoft don't like speaking to each other."

We can't even begin to imagine the trash talking that would have been heard online had Gerighty's wish come true!

Shack: Can you tell me a little about the MMO portion of the game?

Julian Gerighty: (...)The MMO aspect is, it's kind of simple. You pick your faction--say, Russia--and you defend or attack alongside all your comrades. Let's say 100,000 people are playing--let's say you are all attacking Paris, you've won the conquest of Paris, you manage to win a majority of games on Paris that day, the next day, the map will be updated not only in the game but online, on the companion site, with the new battlefront, the new front line. And every day that will happen. There are 40 territories around the world, and it plays out like a RISK game between the three factions. You're basically playing the matches, but there's the overall RISK metagame on top of that.

Shack: And I assume the metagame will roll over at some point?

Julian Gerighty: We're anticipating every three weeks having a new world war. And we've got a community developer who's going to be creating events also. So maybe you'll turn on your console one day and you'll see a call to arms to dominate an oil refinery that's gonna give your mechanized units a boost, or an air strip that's gonna give your air units some increases too. So different territories have different strategic importance too.
