"
- Motorstorm - mixed reaction, some say very good, some say less impressive than the E3 demo (and both could be true..it'd be possible for something like this to look excellent but not up to the CG standard)

- Resistance - very good

- Warhawk - mostly very good
"

"The basic service for Playstation Live will be free, Harrison reiterated, with only third-party and micro transactions costing anything. In other words, you will be able to play online for free and, at least it sounds like, there will be no tiered system like what is found with Xbox Live."

Using the mention of community as another segue, Harrison presented several slides which showed the interface of the PSNP. Using the PS3 game Formula 1 as a backdrop, he showed how up to three simultaneous video chat windows could pop up during gameplay via a minimalist, translucent heads-up display (HUD). Later slides showed how a player could send messages, check e-mail, scour friends lists, and send game requests all while in-game--and all using the same translucent HUD architecture.

A sony planeia por publicidade nos jogos.

March 22, 2006 - In his platform keynote address at GDC 2006 this morning, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios President Phil Harrison talked about future plans for SCE to mine the emerging digital distribution field of gaming. Steam and Xbox Live may have beat them to it, but Sony has had interests in online game distribution for a long time now, and the company is eager to get into it big-time with PS3.

For PS3 (and to a lesser degree, as was mentioned at the PlayStation conference earlier this month, the PlayStation Portable), SCE has plans for a more complex revenue system than just brick-and-mortar game sales. The plans include digital distribution and episodic content of existing games. SCE also is interested in in-game advertising and long-time subscription gameplans, where appropriate.

Part of the plan for online distribution includes the already-established PlayStation.com site, the official site of PlayStation, which will be made more accessible for developers to distribute gaming content. SCE Worldwide Studios is commencing with an e-distribution initiative to help explore this field.

Ageia Reaffirms PS3 Support With PhysX 2.4 Release
The promise of the SPE's power begins to be fulfilled as physics work is offloaded from the Power Processing Element.
By Carl Bender - March 22, 2006

Yesterday at the Game Developers Conference in San Jose, Ageia Technologies announced the upcoming release of it's updated PhysX development tool. Version 2.4 features a number of Cell optimizations that will work to offload a claimed fifty percent of the physics workload from the central Power Processing Element of Cell to the Synergistic Processing Elements instead. Beyond making use of the much vaunted SPE's, freeing up the PPE should also serve to smooth out the gaming experience as more of the central core's power will come to bare on running the actual game code.

Physics is claimed by many in the industry to be the 'next frontier' in gaming as a perfect complement to ever-improving graphics; all designed to create a more realistic environment. Ageia is hoping that with PhysX they will be able to bring destructible environments, reactive physics effects, and improved liquid performance - to name but a few - to games utilizing their technology.

Version 2.4 of the PhysX SDK should become available to PS3 developers beginning on March 31st.

Novo controlador confirmado (goodbye Boomerang... :D)
