Sky channels coming to the 360 in Autumn

Microsoft and Sky have announced a 'ground-breaking' partnership which will allow for the first time ever, premium television channels to be watched through the Xbox 360.

It follows our report yesterday that the company were going to announce the service.

In the UK and Ireland, the Sky Player will launch in the Autumn on Xbox Live, which will allow owners to access channels and programmes on a live basis or on-demand.

There are no firm details on the channel line-up yet, but you'll be able to access films, entertainment shows as well as sports such as the Premier League football through Sky Sports.

The announcement came from Sky at the unveiling in London today by that fit one from Sky Sports News, Georgie Thompson.

Different packages will be avaliable similar to how Sky is offered at the moment. There will be the option to have a pay-per-view basis as well. Existing Sky customers will receive additional benefits from signing up to the service though it is not known what this is.

Interactive applications will also form a large part of the service including on-demand information and news.

What do you think of the proposed package? Would you purchase it and do you think it should be cheap enough for Xbox owners to bother with? Tell us below.
