Um exclusivo da Rockstar na PS3! Hell is gonna freeze over!!!

Sony introduces Rockstar's Agent as a PS3 exclusive

Sony has landed a big Rockstar exclusive -- they have just announced that the Grand Theft Auto developer is bringing a new IP called Agent to the PS3. Details are still as shrouded in secrecy like so many spies, but we're told the game "will take the player across the globe" to participate in various spy-related activities.

Sony says they expect Agent to have the same effect on their platform as the original GTA3 exclusive did with the PS2, but we'll have to see. They didn't show gameplay or even a cinematic at the press conference, so even though the prospect of a Rockstar-developed PS3 exclusive sounds enticing, we'll probably have to wait quite a while for more.

Rockstar's Agent to be "genre-defining"

Rockstar North's new espionage title for the PlayStation 3 - Agent - will be genre-defining, according to Take-Two's CEO Ben Feder.

Although solid details on the new 70s-set thriller are being kept under wraps, a confident Feder told GamesIndustry.biz that the new title from the makers of Grand Theft Auto is a perfect fit for Sony's home console.

"The game, like anything from Rockstar North, is going to be very, very cool. It's going to push the edge, it's going to be genre-defining and it's going to be a whole new way of experiencing videogames that we haven't really seen before.

"They're the best development team on the planet," added Feder, referring to Rockstar North. "We have a lot of respect for Sony, we have a lot of good business relationships with Sony. The PlayStation platforms are best suited for the title."

Feder said the company decided to go with Sony on a PlayStation 3 exclusive to help market the new title in a busy marketplace, at the sacrifice of reaching a larger audience by going multiformat.

"Exclusives do work when you weigh up the pros and the cons, the positives and the negatives of doing an exclusive, they work even at this stage of the console cycle," offered Feder.

"The trade-offs are that on the one hand if you don't go exclusive you get access to a much larger installed base but if you do go exclusive you get the support of first party publishers in a way that you wouldn't normally expect to."

Agent will be "a game about espionage, set in the 1970s" and will be "very, very different" from Grand Theft Auto, according to Take-Two's CEO, Ben Feder, in an interview with Eurogamer. Yeah, it's not much, but at least it's more than a name. He goes on to discuss the success of GTA IV and Chinatown Wars, and gives his refreshing take on the role of censorship in the video game industry.

Feder also discussed exclusivity in the industry today, calling them "relationship and contractual matters," where much information is left undisclosed. With regards to the PS3 exclusivity of Agent, Feder says the company "won't disclose anything beyond what we've already said." Though he does go on to say that "it's important for us to be with Sony, and it's important for Sony, I think, to be with us." As for whether the GTA IV DLC packs will come to the PS3? "We don't talk about that, unfortunately."

Espero bem que seja mesmo algo diferente dos GTA's.

Uma conta criada há 3 dias que nenhum dos followers é alguém ligado à Microsoft e que na qual são "revelados" bastantes segredos, algo totalmente oposto ao secretismo dos últimos meses, ainda assim nenhum site de referência fez qualquer notícia com as "revelações" do twitter do Don Mattrick. Realmente não estou a ver qualquer razão para alguém desconfiar que não possa ser uma das milhares contas "falsas" do twitter, aliás ainda hoje acredito que o GameFork também era uma conta legítima :-D

EDIT: Nem de prepósito, parece que o Major Nelson está a confirmar a veracidade da conta.

De qualquer maneira existem muitas accounts que pertencem realmente ás pessoas e não têm o selo de verificado... Por isso só estamos a especular :\
