Reestruturação na Via

VIA Technologies on November 21 announced a corporate restructuring, with existing business units along with product lines reorganized into three core business groups – CPU Platform, System Platform and MCE (Multimedia Consumer Electronics) – in an attempt to strengthen its efficiency and competitiveness.

Wen-chi Chen will remain as the company's president and CEO and become the general manager of the CPU Platform group, while two existing senior vice presidents will head System Platform and MCE.

AMD's merger with ATi and Intel's cooperation with Nvidia plus trailing Nvidia and ATi in graphics chipset technology have rendered VIA Technologies less competitive in the chipset market, thus motivating the corporate restructuring, industry sources pointed out.

Há muito tempo que a Via não lança nada de realmente interessante.
Parece-me que não estavam a conseguir acompanhar o ritmo das outras empresas. Talvez isso mude agora ou leve à vende de um destes grupos a outra empresa.

eles são competitivos no mercado MCE...cpu's low cust e low power.. mini-itx factor..

em chipset's high-end tão fora de campo... pra mim a VIA era comprada pela NVidia... sempre dava um pequeno kow-how em cpu's
