Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Remake Rumoured To Be In Full Development
With Resident Evil 2 not even out the door yet, rumours are already swirling that follow-up Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is reportedly in full development, according to known, reliable Resident Evil leaker DuskGolem on ResetEra.
"Resident Evil 3 Remake is already in development," the ResetEra user stated in a thread discussing the Resident Evil 2 remake. "I hope Code Veronica happens as I do feel it’s the RE game most in need of a remake, but RE3 is the last mainline RE game that needed a version for easier porting in the future (RE0, RE1, RE2 (after REmake 2 comes out), Code Veronica, RE4, RE5, RE6, RE7, Revelations & Revelations 2 all have versions on MT Framework and RE Engine that be ported to future consoles, only RE3 is missing after REmake 2)."
Bookending the events of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis saw Jill Valentine taking centre-stage in and around Raccoon City and the R.P.D., meaning that many of the assets have already been remade for the upcoming new version of Resident Evil 2. And, obviously, a Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake is a complete no-brainer.
Capcom has also entertained the idea of more remakes in the future (unsurprisingly) and DuskGolem's previous leaks have come to pass, including details on Resident Evil VII: biohazard's 'Not A Hero' DLC. All in all, then, it sounds very plausible.
For the time being, however, we'll continue to look forward to Resident Evil 2 launching on 25th January 2019, and put a pin in the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake. You can check out a bunch of new Resident Evil 2 footage and some fresh hands-on impressions here.
