Amazon is already lets users register their interest for the Google Pixel 7a launch

Now that the Pixel 7 series is on sale, there are two Pixel devices remaining in the rumor mill – the foldable, which may or may not be a myth, and the next “a” phone, which is very much a reality. In fact it's arrival isn't too far according to Amazon. The online retail giant is already letting its users subscribe for the upcoming announcement.

Now, it doesn’t say when the Pixel 7a will be unveiled or anything about it, but it shouldn’t be long. The Pixel 6a has been out since July of this year, months after the 6 and 6 Pro came out. So, it’s still a fairly fresh model, but Google has a new Tensor chip and a new design for the “visor” camera island, so a redesigned “a” phone wouldn’t be out of place.

One rumor did claim that the 7a is slated for an early 2023 release, so it’s possible that we are in for a wait. That same rumor also claimed that Google has ordered 4 million units of the “a” phone, it must have a lot of faith in it.

We’ve heard of the Pixel 7a through code names – the Pixel 7 is “Panther”, the 7 Pro is “Cheetah” and the 7a is “Felix”. And if tradition holds, the 7a will have a smaller display than the vanilla Pixel 7, so it should be 6.0-6.1”.

One thing to note is that Amazon refers to the “Pixel 7a family” as if there is more than one model. The 5a and 6a already have 5G, so this isn't a 4G/5G thing - are we waiting for a Pixel 7a and 7a XL?

All we can do now is subscribe and wait for Amazon to reveal some info on the Pixel 7a – it wouldn’t be the first time the retailer has published pages for phones that were meant to stay under wraps.

The very first Pixel 7a hands-on video is already here, believe it or not. We’re used to tons of Pixel leaks before they launch, but this one comes really early. The Pixel 7a is expected to launch in May, during Google I/O, or perhaps even later than that. We’re only guessing, of course..

The Pixel 7a has already appeared in a hands-on video​

Usually, leaks start off slow, but this one is anything but subtle. If you take a look at the video/tweet embedded below the article, you’ll be able to see a full hands-on video with the Pixel 7a. It has been posted on Facebook.

The video got shared by someone from Vietnam, and shared in this Facebook group. That is not as surprising as Pixel phones get assembled in Vietnam. That has actually been one of the reasons we’ve been seeing so many leaks prior to launch.

The Pixel 6 series and Pixel 7 series both leaked in detail before they launched. In any case, this hands-on video has a duration of almost a minute. It not only shows us the design of the phone, but it does confirm a spec detail or two.

It looks like the Pixel 7, basically​

You can clearly see that the Pixel 7a will resemble the Pixel 7 quite a bit. It will have the same matte camera visor on the back, and two cameras on the same side as the Pixel 7.

It will include a flat display, with a centered display camera hole. The bezels won’t be the thinnest out there, but they will be fairly thin, it would seem. All the physical buttons will sit on the right-hand side.

Now, at a certain point in this video, you can also see that the phone offers a 90Hz refresh rate. The menu is in Vietnamese, but that much is obvious. That means that Google will finally push up the refresh rate of its A series phones.

We have a feeling that many more such leaks will follow in the coming months.

Preço abaixo do P7 é mais do que certo, agora com isto de aumentos aqui e acula, n sei ate que ponto custará menos de 500€, pois a Google sabe que tb n pode vender ao "desbarato"!

N sei a que preço o P6a saiu no lançamento, mas duvido que P7a, custe bem menos face ao P7...

O p6a saiu a 450€, se bem que rapidamente desceu de preço, talvez para trabalhar na popularidade da marca, e esse dispositivo deu lhe bastante. Diria que comecaria nos 500$, quiçá um pouco mais na europa, you know why...

Neste momento um P6a é uma excelente compra pra quem procura dar apenas 400€, fora que ele esteve a 350€ numa altura na amazon e ainda então melhor deal era!

Como disse, o valor do P7a ter-se que ser inferior ao do P7, mas devido a estes aumentos de custos em tudo, etc, a margem entre ambos poderá ser pouca, a n ser que a Google ajuste os preços seja para algo justo ou n! Ainda é cedo pra tal, mas mesmo a Samsung irá aumentar nos seus e estou pra ver quanto será!

o meu maior problema actualmente com o 6a é nao ter ecrã de 90hz e a velocidade de carregamento ser muito baixa (18w). O P6 resolve esse problemas e parece-me bastante recomendável se for abaixo de 500€ na amazon ou outras lojas portuguesas

Se realmente precisas de um smartphone neste momento, decide-te, pois se deixas passar um mês ou mais, eu já preferia esperar pelo P7a, isto sendo que te queiras manter pela Google.

Tenho alguma expectativa com este telefone. Poderá ser um bom candidato para substituir o meu Oneplus 8, dado que a Oneplus não tem estado a cumprir em termos de actualizações, especialmente de segurança. Veio o update para android 13 e o update de segurança é de Outubro de 2022

Concordo, o 7 é pouco maior que a versão A para terem tantas semelhanças, ia canibalizar as vendas do 7 se fosse consideravelmente mais barato, se bem que a camera de 12mp é bastante competente, basta ver pelo teste que o mkbhd fez.
