Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen é um RPG de estratégia para a Super Nintendo, feito pela Quest e dirigido pelo Yasumi Matsuno com artwork de Akihiko Yoshida. Foi o primeiro jogo da série (embora seja supostamente o quinto, mas os episódios anteriores não foram produzidos).

O nome da série e subtítulo do jogo foram inspirados pelo segundo album dos Queen, que contém as musicas chamadas "Ogre Battle" e "The March Of The Black Queen".

A Enix América só produziu 25 mil cópias do jogo o que fez dele um dos jogos mais raros da plataforma. Como tal o jogo costuma ser vendido a cerca de 300% o seu valor de venda original. O jogo foi relançado pela Atlus como um jogo de PSone em 1997 juntamente com o Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together num bundle chamado Ogre Battle: Limited Edition. Esta versão embora não tão rara, usada costuma andar acima dos 50 dólares.

Agora, aparentemente a Square-Enix re-registou a marca para o mercado Americano pelo que o rumor é que o Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen está a caminho da virtual console, onde, segundo o que a Square-Enix disse anteriormente, só pretendem lançar jogos/franchises que perderam o seu valor comercial (ou seja, não os conseguem (re)vender a full price)

Is Ogre Battle Due For A Comeback?

Before strategy RPGs were an established genre Quest developed Ogre Battle. In 2002 Quest was fully absorbed into Square shortly before Square became Square Enix. We haven’t seen any Ogre Battle / Tactics Ogre games since 2002 either. At that time Atlus was actively publishing the series. They even registered the trademark Tactics Ogre which has since expired.

Speaking of trademarks Square Enix recently registered Ogre Battle with the US Patent and Trademark database. Before anyone gets their hopes up that Square Enix is concocting an Ogre Battle revival it’s much more likely this trademark is an indicator that Square Enix will release the Super Nintendo Ogre Battle game on the Virtual Console. Enix gave Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen an extremely limited run and it’s considered one of the rarest Super Nintendo games. Let’s welcome a downloadable release of Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen for under $10 with open arms.

Confirmado para o Japão:

Next month has a few quality games like Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen. The expensive on eBay Super Nintendo game will be released in Japan for a very reasonable 800 Wii Points ($8). Don’t be too envious. Square Enix will probably release Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen in North America too since they spent money on registering a trademark for the Ogre Battle name in North America.

Alguém já tem possibilidade de fazer uma review sobre o jogo ou dar uma pequena análise se ainda não o acabou? Estava a pensar adquirir um título para a VC já que há muito que não o faço e este faz o meu género :)
