Acho RIDICULO e de uma estupidez descumunal terem um pc ligado à net no qual se encontrava codigo e trabalhos...como já foi dito, tais coisas deviam tar numa rede fechada (new wireless nem nada disso)

faz-me impressão como é que gente que consegue criar jogos brilhantes é capaz de ser tao simples e burra e cometer erros destes...

De qualquer maneira gostei da mudança de atitude do Gabbe...de arrogante e tipo "sou muito bom pra falar de x",etc.. para "IMPLORAR À COMUNIDADE"...grande mudança de atitude....parece aqueles gajos que ganham o totoloto o guito vai-lhes à cabeça e dps quando perdem tudo voltam a ser "humildes"...

At some point, keystroke recorders got installed on several machines at Valve. Our speculation is that these were done via a buffer overflow in Outlook's preview pane. This recorder is apparently a customized version of RemoteAnywhere created to infect Valve (at least it hasn't been seen anywhere else, and isn't detected by normal virus scanning tools).

Errado..... e está a espalhar-se e rapidamente! Aparentememente este senhor está a sofrer do mesmo mal que eu.... tenho um birus com toda a certeza, ou então worm ou lá o que aquilo é! Os sintomas são exactamentes os mesmos e a firewall pula quem nem uma doidinha! O ntoskrnl.exe é o responsavel como podem ver neste link. Os sintomas são the samme shit (explorer doido e tal).
Solução...... bem.... isto ñ se está a espalhar atravez de emails.... pelo menos no meu caso ñ! Fiz um instalação limpa e de raiz e instalei os updates que tinha em disco, firewall e antivirus e só depois me ligeui á net.
Quanto ao outlook..... apanhei estes sintomas antes de o usar.... tenho quase a certeza disso! Logo isto ñ deve ser apanhado pela firwall nem pelo AV.


Quanto ao código...... como alguem disse cracks devem haver aos pontapés logo no dia a seguir mas isto é outra coisa muito pior que meia duzia de cracks e de certez que ñ foi feito por outra empresa, rival ou ñ. Quem o fez...... o tempo dirá :die:
 
Eu acho que o que ele quis dizer foi que fizeram uma versão custom especificamente para atingir a Valve e para não ser detectada por antivirus.
 
hum... efim...... pode ser e pode ñ ser mas os sintomas são quase uma fotocópia perfeita! Eu cá diria que esta versão modificada se está a espalhar e muito. Tb ñ tenho muitos problemas, pois de privado neste pc só a pass da conta da hotmail onde vai parar todo o lixo que me mandam! Se fosse no pc da firma... aí o caso muda de figura!

Bem... ng te por aí um disco de 20 gb que me empreste? Os 2 discos de 80 e o de 120 estão a abarrotar e estou sem um unico cá por casa! Pra mais ñ está a apetecer sacrificar 30 cd's pra fazer um backup do que tenho no disco de 20 ( a vitima infectada).....
Efim.................... até daqui a um format....... ou elo menos assim espero :rolleyes:

O que acontece é que os virus/trojans&Companhia que se espalham muito rapidamente na net são rapidamente apanhadas pelas companhias de antivirus (quando não são elas a faze-los...). Por isso, quando pensaram em atacar a Valve, tiveram de fazer um Trojan especifico só para eles, para terem a certeza que o antivirus da Valve não o fosse detectar. Isto não quer dizer que fizeram um trojan completamente novo. Quer apenas dizer que alteraram partes que seriam reconhecidas por antivirus ou assim. Pode até haver trojans que são quase copias desse, mas o "hacker" teve de fazer um que fosse impossivel de reconhecer.
 
1) We've taken our network connection down to pretty much a minimum. We're still finding machines internally that have been compromised.

2) The suite of tools that the attacker was using included the modified version of RemotelyAnywhere (basically a Remote Desktop-style remote admin tool), Haxker Defender (a process, registry key and file hiding tool), the key logger, and various networking utilities that allowed them to transfer files (compressors, NetCat, and FTP). We also are pretty sure they were sniffing our network to gather passwords and other information. Haxker Defender includes a file system driver that allows an attacker to have stuff on your machine that is invisible, unless you do something like mount the drive under another OS that has NTFS support.

We have determined one way of detecting some infected machines, which is using a connection viewer to detect connections to anomalous hosts external to our network.

We still don't know their entry method.

3) In general, the community has been remarkably swift at tracking down the sources of the leak. What would be most helpful now are IP addresses of the people who were responsible for the intrusion or for the denial of service attacks.

4) Also, please continue to send in URLs of websites hosting the source code. We've been contacting people and asking them to take it down.

5) There's anecdotal evidence that other game developers have been targeted by whoever attacked us. This hasn't been confirmed. We've been providing other game developers with more detailed information about the exploits and evidence of infiltration.

6) We're running a little bit blind with our network shut down, but it seems like some of the press has picked up the story. I've been fielding calls from the mainstream non-games, non-technical press.all day. Hopefully they will get to report shortly what a mistake it is to piss off a whole bunch of gamers and get them hunting you around the Internet.

Nem mais, segundo sei estão a 'mudar' o src code para prevenção de eventuais cheats/hacks e o HL2 só sairá para finais de 2004. :'(

Apesar de haver uma versão com 1.4gb de gayporn :-D


EDIT : Neste momento parece-me que metade da net diz que há beta, a outra metade diz que não. Devido ao valor dessa beta acredito que ela realmente existisse, já estaria em todos os p2p, irc e outros (tal como aconteceu com a source)
