Developer Digital Continue has unveiled its new title SuperMash, which aims to let players blend multiple genres to make their games within the game, due for release next year on PlayStation 4.
In the game you play Jume, the owner of a game shop with the uneviable problem of having a lack of actual games in stock to sell. With the help of her brother, Tomo and the PlayType machine, you'll get to pick from a selection of various genres inspired by classic 16-bit games and mash them together to - for example - play a JRPG as a shoot-em-up Spaceship. Completing the games nets you Dev Cards - modifiers you can then put into subsequent mash-ups that can tweak the gameplay of the resultant games, such as increase player movement speed or fire rate. You can then share your resultant creations with other players via a code system.
There's a trailer for the game - which you can see below. SuperMash is out now on PC and is expected to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2020.
