PC/Mac The Walking Dead (Telltale Games)

Announced this morning at E3 in Los Angeles, today we can finally reveal the next installment for The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series, set to premiere later this fall!

The Walking Dead: Michonne - A Telltale Games Mini-Series stars the iconic character from the comic book series haunted by her past and coping with unimaginable loss and regret. The story explores her untold journey during the time between issues #126 and #139. Through this Telltale Games mini-series of 3 episodes, players will discover what took Michonne away from Rick, Ezekiel, and the rest of her trusted group… and what brought her back.

You can expect to see the premiere this fall on PC/Mac, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and compatible iOS and Android-based devices. You'll need at least the first episode of The Walking Dead: Season Two in order to play The Walking Dead: Michonne, but we'll have more info on that for you closer to the premiere date.

So why did we choose Michonne for Telltale's first-ever mini-series? Robert Kirkman and Telltale's own Kevin Bruner can tell you more...

"In many ways, Michonne herself is a reflection of the world of The Walking Dead. She is brutal and cold on the outside, but deep beneath what is broken, she remains hopeful, trying to claw her way out of the darkness that surrounds her," said Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead. "In our effort to bring the world of the comic and the world of the Telltale series closer together, there is no greater character than Michonne to help bridge that gap."

"Michonne's complexity and range make her an ideal lead for the compelling interactive drama fans have come to expect from Telltale," said Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games. "With this mini-series, players will experience Michonne's challenges first-hand, and the choices they make will shape her journey. We're incredibly honored by Robert for the opportunity to share this untold story in The Walking Dead universe."

As ever, stay tuned to Telltale Games on Twitter, Facebook, and right here on the blog for the latest updates as they happen!

Telltale is Planning The Walking Dead Season 3 as a 2016 Release

Though in the midst of the rollout for The Walking Dead Michonne: miniseries, Telltale Games CEO Kevin Bruner recently discussed a few tidbits regarding the third season of the main game that follows young heroine Clementine. Despite the branching endings of Season 2, the company is working to bridge all players’ choices with the next season.

Bruner had the following to say regarding the story for Season 3:

“From a role-playing, interactive storytelling point of view, it is not from the bag of tricks that we’ve ever shown anybody before. The way that we’re dealing with and validating and retaining all those different playthroughs is really cool and unexpected and, I think, pretty innovative from the storytelling point of view.”

He also confirmed that the game will be premiering in 2016, and that the company is looking into bringing cross-platform save comparability to the third season. The next details of the game are set to be revealed at Comic Con International this summer.

'The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier' Premieres This November

Since its unveiling at E3 in June, the title and release window for the next season of the series have been tightly under wraps. Today, we can announce that 'The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier' will be premiering this November on consoles, PC/Mac, and mobile platforms. The series will also be available for purchase on a special 'Season Pass Disc' for consoles, which will include the premiere episode for the third season, as well as access to all subsequent episodes in the five episode season for download as they become available.

"This third new season will serve as both a continuation of what's come before in our story, as well as an all-new beginning set nearly four years after the outbreak events of Season One," said Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games. "As a harrowing and horrific drama, 'A New Frontier' will explore beyond what it means to survive in a world ravaged by the undead, and will see our characters confronting the new rules of order and justice in a land being brutally reclaimed and rediscovered by what's left of humanity itself."

The Walking Dead: The Final Season Coming Later This Year, Reveal Next Week

Telltale Games has announced that The Walking Dead: The Final Season will be premiering later this year, with a reveal scheduled for next week during a panel at PAX East. Alongside the announcement, there's also a bit of artwork, indicating that the fourth and last season will take place a good few years after A New Frontier.

Clementine is looking considerably more grown-up than she was in the third season of Telltale's The Walking Dead, which concluded in late May 2017. Little AJ has also grown up a bit too, but Clem will no doubt still have her hands full, having to protect him from hordes of walkers.

Finishing Clementine's story, The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - The Final Season will commence later in 2018, with a first look set for PAX East on Friday 6th April at 12:30pm ET.
