BroadQ’s QCast Tuner home entertainment software is a content delivery solution that allows users to turn a Sony PlayStation 2 console into a digital media center. The current version supports MP3, MPEG -1, MPEG-2, and MPEG -4, and DivX video technology formats.
Surely most people are interested in the MPEG-4 and DivX capabilities of the new system, as MPEG-1/2 and MP3 sources can already be easily handled with currently existing DVD players. Alan has played with a beta version of the software and this is what he has to say:
"Visually, the quality is very good. The sharpness, color, and contrast are right up there with the Matrox DVDMax solutions. Their MP3 audio decoder is the MAD decoder, which means it's also got great audio. The interface is easy to use, but somewhat restrictive. Due to PS2 security, you cannot load CD-Rs of Divx's or MP3s into your PS2 for playback. You need to use the network adapter to link to your PC and then stream the data that way. The idea is that if you have a wireless network and do not have an easy way to use your video card's TV out (or are not happy with the quality), you can use your PS2."
Se incluirem nisto um descodificador DTS e dobly digital então teremos um produto pra arrasar com tudo! Embora o seu unico defeito seja a qualidade grafica dos jogos ser inferior á Xbox!
