Instalação do Ubuntu 5.04 mas não há diferença na instalação. O wallpaper na versão 5.10 é ligeiramente diferente mas continua a ser castanho:D

Falta apenas o ecrã de abertura em que a unica coisa a fazer é carregar no enter. De seguida vêm este ecrã:)
è tão facil que nem é necessário comentar.
Eu uso sempre o disco inteiro mas mudo a partição de ext3 para reiserfs.

Para editarem o sources.list.
Abrem uma consola e:

sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list_backup
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

O primeiro passo faz uma copia da sources.list que tinham e o segundo passo abre o sources.list para editarem

O breezy-backports está comentado porque ainda não existe nos ftps e porque nem todos quererão usar backports.
O breezy-extras ainda terá que aparecer em algum ftp, já que não é oficial.

O Ubuntu não vem com o root activado. Por isso é necessario usar o sudo.

Uma das primeiras coisas que vão querer alterar é o kernel se tiverem um pc recente.
Para isso:

sudo apt-get install linux-686

Por default o kernel é i386

O Ubuntu está “apoiado em ombros de gigantes”, ao utilizar a arquitetura do Debian. Muito do bom trabalho da distro vem do esforço da comunidade Debian e isso não pode ser esquecido. A partir dessa herança, o projeto Ubuntu entrega uma distribuição Linux excelente.

Sairá cada 6 em 6 mêses uma nova ubuntu, mas cada versão terá updates até pelo menos 18 Meses.

* Thin Client Integration
Ubuntu is the first distribution in the world to include
deeply-integrated thin client technology. This allows you
to deploy Ubuntu in large scale networked environments or,
for example, in classrooms, with a lightweight Ubuntu image
booting over the network. All Ubuntu management tools work
for the thin client image as well as for the server.

* OEM Installer Support
This release of Ubuntu has special support for OEM hardware
vendors. Ubuntu can be pre-installed and tested without
configuring end user information. The user will be asked to
complete that configuration (name, timezone and password)
upon first startup.

* Launchpad Integration
Launchpad.net is the new infrastructure that Ubuntu and its
derivatives use for translation, bug tracking, sharing code
patches, fixes and technical support. Users of Ubuntu 5.10
can make technical support requests for any package in Ubuntu,
and can help to translate their software, directly from the
built-in Help menu in every desktop application.

Este ppl é completamente INSANE!! fazerem countdowns para uma release de Linux? Estarem ali colados a ver quem saca primeiro? omg omg....
 
bem o k tenho a dizer sobre isto.

Tinha eu slack instalado no meu portatill, n conseguindo ter a placa wireless a funcar e mais um ou 2 pormenores.

Decidi testar o ubuntu.

Detectar tudo detectou e instalou tudo k cheguei ao fim com a sensação k faltava instalar tudo. :)

Mas como nao gostodo gnome, fiz um apt-get do fluxbox (cena gira esta dos apt) e pronto la testei o bixo.

Como tive curiosidade fui testar o kubunto tudo igual excepto que nao me instalou placa de sm.

Coisa k n m preocupei. Instalei la tudo que queria, fiz updates ao software. Fiquei sem o x a dar. La resolvi. Tive d fazer um update ao kernel. Mas como foi tudo pelo aptget ate n foi dificil.

Quanto ao som fartei m peskisar e n achei solução... bem, muito simples apt-get do gnome. reboot, escolhi gnome, mudei d ambiente e pronto.

Unicos defeitos a apontar.

Não trás o gcc por defeito.
O apt-get eh muito giro mas tudo que tenha dependencias temos d instalar antes e/ou instalar uma a uma.
Ha, e o kde deixou de funcionar dps do update pro gnome.

esta foi a minha experiencia com o ubuntu(5.10)/kubunto5.04>5.10).

Apt-get install gcc resolve o problema. Ou build-essential também pode ser util.

Algo de muito errado se passou com o teu apt. Em que é que ele não te resolveu as dependencias?

Como é que instalaste o gnome?
Se foi apt-get install gnome, tenta antes ubuntu-desktop em vez de gnome. Kubuntu-desktop em vez de kde, xubuntu-desktop em vez de xfce.

De lembrar que quando experimentaste o 5.10 ele ainda era beta/RC.
Tenta Debian, talvez gostes mais. :)

Eu já tinha feito update via apt-get para o 5.10 (Breezy) RC, até agora ainda não saiu mais nenhum update novo para fazer...
