ok tenho alguma info adicional

My WinXP drivers are working just fine with Vista Ultimate... here is what i did, even the surround is functioning same as it did in XP. I think asus may need to tailor an installer (.exe) for Vista. Mabye the XP driver needs some mods but i am showing no conflicts in my sys logs and event viewer.

Unplug all speaker connections first so Smart Jack feature can redetect the speakers when the driver is installed.

[1]
D/L the latest CMI driver here from this site.

[2]
Extract the driver to a folder on your desktop.

After extraction you will see the directory structure and the exe file ect, the folder your looking for is just the one labled ((Driver)) not the bus driver folder. (take note)

[3]
Now right click on My Computer either on desktop or right click on 'my computer' in your start menu and choose (Properties)

[4]
After properties window opens you will see to the top left (Device Manager) click on device manager and a new window opens.

[5]
Now you will see system devices with + signs beside them. you are looking for one that has a yellow (?) mark by it. 'Right Click' on the PCI AUDIO DEVICE in question and choose (Update Driver)

[6] After update driver is opened, click on (Browse my computer) tab at bottom of window.

[7] Then look down again to (Let me pick from a list of devices)

[8] Then chooce (Have Disk) tab.

[9] browse to the folder (Drivers) in the CMI folder on your desktop.

[10]
In the folder (Drivers) there are (2) .ini files click on the (CMHDA.inf) then choose ok, Vista will detect the drivers and set them up with the same irq's as in windows XP. (well mine anyway, I only have the PCIe slot used)

[11]
Reboot the computer and proceed to re-connect the speakers to the computer after your desktop is up.

outro:

I downloaded some 9880 drivers from the net, can't remember where from though. But they are out there, just do a google search. I managed to get them for 64bit Home Premium.

cumps
