VMware on Core 2 Duo, Bug do processador?

Ontem sakei o Ubuntu 6.06 (infelizmente veio a versão server sem querer) e fui rodar no VMware... Pois aquilo deu um crash muito manhoso e danificando a virtual machine (tenho mesmo que APAGAR e criar nova e acontece sempre o mesmo, nem sequer dá para instalar o Ubuntu, ainda começa, mas depois p00f...)

Hoje voltei a carga, mas com o Ubuntu 6.06 desktop, crio a VM, arrancou o ubuntu em modo live CD e chega ao desktop dele, tudo na boa, abro uns programas, a consola e tal e de repente,BANG!

Como não chegou a instalar posso recuperar a VM e voltar a arrancar...

Hoje vi nesta thread que a Intel reportou 67 bugs nos Core 2 Duo,depois de uma leitura atenta do PDF, este me despertou atenção:

AI66. VMLAUNCH/VMRESUME May Not Fail when VMCS is Programmed to
Cause VM Exit to Return to a Different Mode


Problem: VMLAUNCH/VMRESUME instructions may not fail if the value of the “host
address-space size” VM-exit control differs from the setting of
IA32_EFER.LMA.
Implication: Programming the VMCS to allow the monitor to be in different modes prior to
VMLAUNCH/VMRESUME and after VM-exit may result in undefined behavior
Workaround: Software should ensure that "host address-space size" VM-exit control has
the same value as IA32_EFER.LMA at the time of VMLAUNCH/VMRESUME.

Será mesmo um bug do CPU que me impede usar o VMware 8o No AMD a mesma versão que uso (5.5.0, sei que já tem a 5.5.2, mas não consegui ainda actualizar) funcionava na perfeição...

Agradeço quem tiver Core 2 Duo que testem ai umas VM com o Ubuntu ou outro OS... Vou agora instalar um windows XP @ VMware e ver se o bug aparece ou não...

O "bug" acontece quer com o VT ligado ou não)

Faz paste do log do dump para ver uma coisa sff e paste aki
o log do dump está em L:\Documents and Settings\Godinho\My Documents\My Virtual Machines\Ubuntu\vmware.log.
 
mas aquili tem 50 km! :wow:

Depois disso sakei o M$ virtual PC, corri o ubuntu e deu KERNEL PANIC \o/

Já instalar o windows XP foi na boa... weird
