Rainbow Six Denied
July 6, 2006 - When it comes to tactical simulators, the Tom Clancy series sits at the top of the console list. Sure, the franchise isn't always the most realistic, often featuring over-the-top scenarios and cutting-edge technology that would make James Bond blush, but that's all part of the excitement. At E3 2006, Rainbow Six: Vegas took the stage in spectacular fashion, blowing us away with tactical precision and a cinematic flair that rivals Hollywood's greatest. So when rumors surfaced regarding a Wii version of the franchise, we had to investigate: If not for your sake, then at least for ours.
Unfortunately, it seems as though Nintendo fans won't be seeing Rainbow Six: Vegas on the Wii any time soon. Despite the supposedly "leaked" release list and accidental Ubisoft site update, which displayed Wii as a supported console earlier this week, company representatives gave the following statement to IGN earlier today:
"Rainbow Six Vegas has been announced and is currently being developed for the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 platforms, and is not in development for any other consoles at this time."
When asking whether or not an alternate Rainbow Six title was in the works for Wii, Ubisoft offered no official comment. We'll have more on Rainbow Six: Vegas should news surface.
