"We expect Nintendo's Revolution, based on its price and immense catalog of downloadable games, to be the market leader by 2010," Runte told GameSpot News. "Nintendo is going to be one heck of a competitor for the gaming pie, and from the looks of it, I think they are going to get a rather huge slice."
Runte says it's not only that Nintendo has "superior strategy" and is "totally awesome"; it's Nintendo's rivals' weaknesses that give the Revolution the advantage. He dismisses the competition as a non-factor and had particularly harsh words for Sony.
"Sony has yet to come out of the pit stop after the first lap. Folks, when this race started, naysayers said Nintendo would not have enough under the engine to compete with Microsoft and Sony. Trying to one-up Nintendo like they did with them wanting to make a Revolution-style controller after it was revealed and oohed and aahed over... Nintendo is back in a big way. I think Nintendo will own them all. I believe they are on the path to domination once again. I think they finally are giving people what they want and continuing to give them things they never thought of."

gostei deste april fools

And the prospect of a Wii Version? “We ported Two Thrones to the Wii. It was a quick and dirty port, i can say. With that we saw a lot of potential. The controls were not fully optimised, did not take full advantage of the Wii, but a lot of people saw the POP universe could certainly have a home on Wii. Since then people have been looking into that, but there’s no formal announcement. We are investigating it very seriously. You would never see a port of the game we’re making however. That’ll never, never happen.”
Ubisoft talks MotionPlus, PLUS ‘hardcore gamers on that platform, casual gamers on this platform’
August 18th, 2008 A portion of a Gamasutra interview with CEO of Ubisoft Montreal, Yannis Mallat…
GS: Nintendo recently announced the MotionPlus for the Wii. Do you have any thoughts about utilizing that?
YM: I’d have to say that I wouldn’t realize at first that it would add so much to the experience. It’s one thing to have your brain interpolating what you’re doing. It’s another thing to not need that interpolation work.
It’s so comfortable. It’ll certainly add a lot of pleasure to the experience.
GS: And the Balance Board, also. Do you feel comfortable making games that would require these peripherals?
YM: Oh yeah, totally. It’s extensions — to get a wide audience with new peripherals in order to interact with a game. I cannot help but think of Shaun White Wii, which is definitely a must-try. It’s so intuitive.
You don’t need your brain to do that interpolation work, because it’s so seamless, and then you immerse yourself into that experience. Oh yeah, definitely. It’s really good.
GS: And obviously Nintendo recently overtook Microsoft in install base. So you’re confident. Do you see that as the leading platform for your studio, from a console perspective?
YM: I cannot speak for Nintendo and the others, but I think the figures speak for themselves. What is sure is that we are a content provider and an experience provider.
We will, for sure, make games for everyone — hardcore gamers on that console, and casual gamers on this console. We’ll make games for everyone, because that’s our job.
I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions with that last statement!
