Wii Wario Land: The Shake Dimension

I don't think i need to introduce what kind of game this is so i'll move right away to my impressions.

Graphics: This game is gorgeous. It's really colorfull and i would compare it with Odin Sphere only with better animations, and no framerate drops (so far). The game supports 480p but no widescreen, but instead of black bars you have your achievements in each side of the screen. The cutscenes look amazing and feel like you're watching an anime. I would give the graphics a 9/10, and that's because of the lack of widescreen option.

Sound: Nothing special here, classic Wario tunes. Catchy sounds but lack of voice acting in cutscenes kinda hurt it. Not only there's no voice acting, but the characters in cutscenes don't even open their mouth like they should. Anyway, the sound is an 8/10 from me.

Gameplay: This is where the game shines. It's a return to classic 2D goodness. It's a bit like Wario Land 4, with heart meter. As you play one level, you have to save some kind of a fairy (at least in the first level) and then you head back to the beginning of the level, only from different paths as some are blocked when you free the fairy. The fairy then follows you and shows you where you should go. Classic 2D Wario, love it. 9.5/10 because going back to the beginning has a time limit, which is 5 minutes so far.

Edit: As mentioned in graphics, there are achievements for each level, like killing all enemies or getting all coins. This gives the game a bit or replayability so it's a nice inclusion.

Controls: The game is controlled by holding the Wii Remote sideways like a NES controller. It feels appropriate for this kind of game. The "gimmicks" aka motion controls are limited to aiming (by rotating the controller), shaking to get coins from some money bags, and an earthquake move that changes some parts of the levels (like some blocks etc). (In the first level at least) The controls are shown to you by animated post signs. Controls get a 10/10 as they're basic and efficient.

All in all the game seems awesome and totally worth being retail and not WiiWare. Any Wario, Mario or 2D platformer fan should get it. I will update my impressions as i get further in the game.

Update: It seems there are hidden levels unlocked by completing some achievements too. So yeah the game should be lengthy since i've only completed one achievement in the second level and it unlocked me a hidden one.
