Xbox 360 [X360] Developer Support Thread

Pequeno resumo:

* The Iwata keynote

What is it? - Discovering New Development Opportunities

When is it? - Wednesday, March 25, 9.00am-10.00am PST (4.00pm-5.00pm GMT)

What are we going to see?

Satoru knows. We don’t. And neither do you. The last time Nintendo keynoted GDC, Miyamoto announced a Mii channel and talked about his dog for over two hours. It’s fair to expect more this time.

New hardware? Triple A first-party product? There’s no point speculating. You may see Zelda and Mario. You may see nothing. It’s Nintendo, Ringo. You may see Iwata’s family album.

VG247 liveblog? - Yes.

* The Kojima keynote

What is it? - Solid Game Design: Making the ‘Impossible’ Possible

When is it? - Thursday, March 26, 10.30am-12.00pm PST (5.30pm – 7.00pm GMT)

What are we going to see?

This one’s a bit easier to pick. If we were betting men, we’d guess you’re going to see a Kojima pet project announced. Think along the lines of Boktai. The talk’s an hour and a half long, but we’ve been told it’s going to be a sedate affair. An MGS5 reveal? Nah. E3. That said, you’d be a fool to blink. That’s an awfully big stage, an awfully big crowd and an awful lot of time to wank on about nothing in particular.

VG247 liveblog? - Yes.

(...)

The Molyneux session

What is it? - Lionhead Experiments Revealed

When is it? - Friday, March 27, 2.30pm-3:30pm PST (9.30pm-10.30pm GMT)

What are we going to see?

All being well, we’re going to get a first look at a new Lionhead game. Molyneux’s already said as much, and indications are looking favourable. Keep your fingers crossed.

VG247 liveblog?

Unconfirmed. Steph’s flying home on Friday, but we may be able to fit it in. We’re pretty sure any game announcement’s going to come out on the Thursday, however. We’ll keep you updated.

GDC: Blizzard in talks with Microsoft about developing the next Xbox

Blizzard's Rob Pardo has confirmed his company has had talks with Microsoft about the successor to Xbox 360.

Pardo was speaking at the Luminaries Lunch held at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, and attended by GamesIndustry.biz. He would only state that Blizzard is actively in discussions with Microsoft - seeming to confirm the development process for new console hardware is underway.

Other developers at the lunch said they have not spoken to either Microsoft or Sony about future plans. This has raised concerns that content isn't a priority for format holders as they plan the next-generation of home machines.

"How many designers in the games industry do you think they are rounding up to [talk to], because this is going to make or break them this time around," said Acclaim's David Perry.
"I'm not aware that they are putting a big amount of effort into finding out how to make the games. The people who are actually physically going to make the games are all going to get a surprise."

Warren Spector, boss of Disney's Junction Point Studios and responsible for classic titles such as Deus Ex, said he believes format holders are too concerned with the wider entertainment market to focus on games.

"I get the impression they're focusing on owning the living room," he said. "One device that lets you watch movies, television and play games and music and all that stuff.
"They're so focused on that that I'm not even sure they're thinking about the games that are going to come out. Which is kind of crazy," he added.

Pardo said that so far there's been a good reason why Blizzard titles such as World of Warcraft haven't appeared on home consoles - the hardware hasn't been specifically designed to suit some genres.

"There are are so many games like we make at Blizzard that we don't take to consoles because they don't support the input device, and you end up with crappy ports. That's why RTS games never do well on consoles," he said.

"If I was them, I'd be sitting around trying to figure out what's a cool input device that supports all types of new kinds of games."

GDC: Blizzard in talks with Microsoft about developing the next Xbox

CryENGINE 3 Trailer (Xbox 360 e PS3)

Call of Duty "o Original" - Live! Arcade e PSN!

callofdutyoriginal22318.png

Rating websites around the world are exploding with information, revealing a ton of new titles that we've yet heard a peep about. The latest being Infinity Ward's Original Call Of Duty, coming to the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live Arcade.

Despite Call Of Duty 2 and beyond being incredible hits on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 - one game in the series never came to consoles. The original Call Of Duty was never released on the original Xbox or PlayStation 2 and only came out on PC, instead Activision pushed Call Of Duty: Finest Hour and Big Red One side stories to the consoles. This will mean that the Xbox 360 will now be the one console you can play every single mainline title in the Call Of Duty series.

The first game was released back in 2003 and won a ton of awards. It will be interesting to see if this holds up. Will it include just a single player mode, or will it come complete with the multiplayer as well? What of United Offensive, the game's one expansion pack? So many questions.

It's certainly an interesting game to be coming out from Activision. With the release of Vigilante 8 Arcade and the reveal that they are bringing Wolfenstein 3D to each platform, it's strange to see something so recent come back as well. Hopefully our plead for Tony Hawk 2 making a return isn't in vein.

Arcade :001:

Wolfenstein 3D's daqui a uns tempos... no lugar do costume

wolfensteinxblapsn28163.jpg

Through all the frantic news of the Game Developer's Conference, the ESRB got the chance to slide out a little update to their rating lists. In said list - Wolfenstein 3D for the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network

With the new Wolfenstein game coming to consoles at the end of the year, it's not much of a surprise to see the original game come out as well, but since we've already had DOOM on the system, Wolfenstein 3D may be a little too ancient. If they add Spear Of Destiny we might be onto something.

With the game just released on iPhone, and available right now and playable on anything on Steam, a XBLA and PSN version might be a bit of a waste. Wouldn't it be hilarious if they completely remade Wolfenstein with new graphics though? That'd be something to see.

But come on Activision and id Software, sure you're releasing Quake Arena sometime this year, but where are Doom II, Quake, Quake II and the Commander Keen collection? That's what we really want to see on XBLA and PSN. Get to it!

See the Future, the next downloadable content from Lionhead Studios for Fable II, will be hitting in weeks, Peter Molyneux told Kotaku today.

"The next DLC comes out in the spring," he said. "We're in the spring now so don't think months, think more like weeks. It's called See the Future."

Molyneux says that the new DLC will be much more story driven and give gamers a glimpse of things to come.

"The first (DLC) was done very close to Fable II and the team was tired and we sort of pushed ourselves to get something out early for the fans," he said. "This time we've taken a little bit more time on it, it's a little bit more story driven. It answers some of the questions, if you're a real fan of Fable, it answers some of those questions. It's going to test you a little bit emotionally as well. But I think the real unique thing here is it starts to tease and hint at what it starting to happen in the world of Albion and what is happening in the future."

Molyneux also hinted at the rumored existence of Fable III.

"If we were to take the franchise even further, going on from Fable II, I'm not announcing anything, but if you play See the Future you're going to be getting a flavor at what's going to be happening," he said. "My ideal is what I would want to happen is something big."

Bleszinski: Epic’s Chair game to be announced “in the near future”

Cliff Bleszinski’s told Epic fans to keep eyes open for a new game reveal from Chair, the firm’s wholly-owned developer in Utah.

“Our partners at Chair in Utah are working on a product that we’re going to be announcing at some point in the near future which is very, very cool,” the developer said in the latest Major Nelson podcast.

“We have our partners at People Can Fly in Poland working on some great stuff. We’re working on things internally - I feel that I’ve got five balls up in the air that I’m juggling right now,” he added.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time. Keep your ears peeled in the next year. There’s going to be a lot of great announcements.”

Epic bought Chair in May last year.

Bleszinski was talking at GDC last week.

'Max Payne' & sequel get Xbox 360 listings from ESRB!

maxpayne3stuffs58080230.jpg

Before Max Payne turned into a homeless-looking Vin Diesel (pictured center, if you didn't guess) he was a "take no prisoner, nothing to lose" New York detective out for revenge. Now he looks like he takes no showers, amirite?

Max Payne was a classic when it hit the PC and, although a lot was left to be desired when it was thrown onto consoles, the Max Payne series shined on the original Xbox among third-person shooters. Searching the original titles on the ESRB website revealed both titles had been rated for the Xbox 360 platform, a process that ordinarily occurs when a game is set to be released as an Xbox Original. File this under: "Taken with a grain of salt," but it's possible Max's previous adventures will be added to the Xbox 360's digital list ... just in time for his latest pill-popping journey this winter.

Project Gotham Devs Unveil New Racing Series

When Activision lured Bizarre away from Microsoft, it wasn't to make platformers. It was to make racing games. Like the one Bizarre are working on now, called Blur.

Revealed in the latest issue of French magazine/Edge accompaniment Joypad, Blur seems be offering everything Bizarre did so well with Project Gotham - namely fast cars, exotic locations and a great damage model - and adding something new.

Weapons. (Hmmmm...)

Yes, if you ever wanted your PGR to have a little more Mario Kart (and really, you should have been expecting it), the game will apparently feature a range of vehicular weapons and armour.

And...that's about all that can be gleaned from the article. We'll hope/expect some more details and screenshots to come sometime between now and E3.

Lionhead showing new IP at E3?

Lionhead animation director Andrew Lindsay, as related by a Swansea Metropolitan University student's Twitter feed.

What we heard: Last month, BBC radio and television personality Jonathan Ross claimed through his Twitter feed that he had been tapped to provide voice work on Lionhead's as-yet-unannounced next project, Fable III. While it remains unclear whether Ross was referring to Fable III or simply to downloadable content for Fable II, Twitter has again stirred up the rumor mill regarding Lionhead's future endeavors.

According to the Twitter feed of Swansea Metropolitan University student Adam Payne, Lionhead animation director Andrew Lindsay confirmed that his studio was at work on an all-new intellectual property and that the first details on the project would arrive as part of this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo in June. Lindsay supposedly delivered the news as part of Swansea Metropolitan University's AmperSAND digital medium forum, where he had been scheduled to speak tonight.

When contacted by GameSpot, Payne offered a few more details from Lindsay's presentation. "Every now and then industry heads visit our class," he said. "Not much was said really, just that an announcement for a new game of a new franchise will be revealed. He showed off some incredible facial animation and spoke about some skin textures (put skin up to a light and the red translucent glow)."

While not concrete, the information fits with recent statements made by Lionhead studio head Peter Molyneux. As part of his Game Developers Conference presentation, Molyneux himself nearly outed the title. In describing the cost structure of the Lionhead Experiments program, Molyneux noticeably checked himself, saying, "I almost said the project we were working on. That would have been disastrous!" Molyneux also noted during that presentation that Lionhead plans to incorporate a Portal-esque gameplay mechanic into one of its future titles.

As for the potential of an E3 reveal, Molyneux also said at GDC 2009 during an interview with GameSpot that Lionhead was getting close to showing off what it has been working on. "I feel more empowered to be able to do the most bizarre, most out-there ideas, and I think interestingly you're going to see the product of that come forward very soon," Molyneux said. "I think Lionhead's almost ready to start showing the world what happens when you feel safe about experimenting and inventing and prototyping, and that can lead to some pretty amazing things and we've got some amazing things in our pocket."

The official story: Unfortunately, neither Lionhead nor Microsoft had anything to say on Lindsay's apparent reveal. "We cannot comment on rumour and speculation," a Lionhead representative told GameSpot. Microsoft had not returned a request for comment as of press time.

Bogus or not bogus?: Very tentative not bogus. With Fable II wrapped, downloadable content isn't likely to occupy the entire studio's attention. Plus, Molyneux's statements lend a good deal of credence to the notion that something will bubble over soon.

:D

Devil May Cry 5?!? :paranoid:

Devil May Cry 5?!? :paranoid:

Grunf...
