Epic Mickey 2 Heading to XBOX 360 With Co-Op Play

Looks like there's going to be an Epic Mickey sequel, and it is heading to XBOX 360. Accidentally revealed by a Disney newsletter, Epic Mickey 2 will hit in Autumn this year. The original game, a 3D platformer developed by legendary designer Warren Spector, was a Wii-exclusive.

The Disney newsletter, which has since been edited, also revealed that the game will feature split screen co-operative play, with the second player taking control of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, one of Disney's earliest characters.

"Disney Epic Mickey 2 is the latest game in the critically acclaimed Disney Epic Mickey videogame series," said the original newsletter. "In this all-new action-platforming game available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii, Mickey embarks on an epic journey and is pulled back into a world filled with Disney's forgotten characters.

"Players can choose to play single-player as Mickey or for the first time players can also choose 2-player split screen mode. In the 2 player mode one person can play as Mickey wielding magic paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world and the second player can play as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit – Walt Disney's first cartoon star – with the power to fly like a helicopter and use electricity to fight or friend enemies and solve challenges.

Team-up and choose your path to save this forgotten world because the choices you make will alter the story and change the end of the game!"

Warren Spector realizes that he made a mistake with "Epic Mickey," his 2010 action-adventure game starring the world's most famous mouse
Despite his insistence on crafting an interactive homage to the silent cartoons that inspired him to create "Epic Mickey," the veteran designer acknowledges that the game's characters should have actually spoken.
Spector, the mastermind behind such games as "Deus Ex" and "Thief," now is more than fixing that flub with "Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two." He's not only tapped voice actors to portray the game's colorful cast, he's also making the sequel a musical. Jim Dooley and Mike Himelstein, the composer and lyricist who wrote the music for the upcoming animated film "Dorothy of Oz," are crafting original tunes for "Epic Mickey 2."

Gostei do primeiro (design fantástico), tirando alguns problemas de jogabilidade.

Ao que aparenta também vai ser relançado nas nova geração, por isso presumo Wii U também.

Acho que é um must ;)

Cumprs,

Joguei ao 1º para a WII, apesar de não achar nada de espantoso, a jogabilidade e todo o conceito do jogo é algo inovador e diferente.

Another one bites the dust

Epic Mickey developer Junction Point Studio closed its doors, a Disney representative confirmed to Polygon today. The Disney-owned Austin, Tex.-based studio employed about 160 people in early 2012.

"It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios," a representative for the company told Polygon. "These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities. We're extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2."

In an interview with Polygon last year, Spector said he saw a future in connectivity between smartphones and traditional gaming platforms.

"I make the games I want to make," he said. "I'm going to continue to do that. Anybody who doesn't work for Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo, who isn't thinking about 'How do I get a billion people with an Android, iOS or Microsoft phone in their pocket? How do they interact with my hardware?' If they're not thinking about that, they're not thinking hard enough."

Junction Point's most recent title, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, was released in November. According to a report from the LA Times citing the NPD Group, sales of Epic Mickey 2 lagged far behind its predecessor during a similar holiday period.

Junction Point Studio was founded by Warren Spector and Art Min in 2004. The developer was acquired by Disney Interactive in 2007. Junction Point's debut effort, Epic Mickey, was released on the Wii in 2010. A sequel was released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC, and Nintendo 3DS last year.

Disney Interactive shuttered two of its game development studios in 2011: Propaganda Games (Turok, Tron: Evolution) and Black Rock Studio (Pure, Split Second). The division has seen two restructurings over the past two years, resulting in the elimination of an estimated 250 jobs.

Com as vendas miseráveis deste jogo até admira a Disney ter demorado tanto tempo.
