Ubi Sof just confirmed that development has begun on the next Splinter Cell game, subtitled: "Pandora Tomorrow." This sequel is being developed as a multiplatform title and is slated for release in the first quarter of 2004. The game will bring back more of the single-player intrigue that made the original game a bestseller. With exciting new action scenes and a strong cinematic feel, the player will experience new and even more realistic surroundings. Building on Ubi Soft's strong commitment to online gaming, Pandora Tomorrow will the be the first stealth game ever to feature multiplayer online missions allowing several players to simultaneously share Sam Fisher's shadowy world of espionage.

Espero que se dêm ao trabalho de inovar bastante a jogabilidade... o 1º foi interessante mas mais do mesmo vai-se tornar repetitivo.

Esperemos para ver...

a strong cinematic feel

Um estilo mais MGS... interesting...

The chaps at Gamespy have posted a preview of Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, the upcoming stealth action game sequal from Ubi Soft. Pandora Box will be available in March 2004. Here is a taster:

As spies, you'll be equipped with familiar night- and thermal-vision goggles, along with a variety of gadgets. Mercenaries, on the other hand, are completely opposite in every way. Instead of playing in a restricting, third-person perspective, a first-person viewpoint allows players to scan rooms quickly for enemies; and electromagnetic sensors (detecting any sort of electronic movement, including the use of spy gadgets) and motion-based infrared vision are installed in their goggle set. While it's hard to visualize, with the disparity between each character profile, such differences will make your stay in Splinter Cell's multiplayer realm a very balanced one.

adaptive AI no pandora tomorrow

Gamers who found Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell too easy--or too hard--won't have the same problem with its sequel. In an interview with the BBC, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow will use an adaptive AI system that will make the game harder or easier according to the players' skill (or lack thereof).

While previous action games like Max Payne 2 sport self-adjusting diffculty levels which tweak computer-controlled characters' alertness and toughness, Pandora Tomorrow will apparently go one step further. According to Guillemot, Tomorrow's AI will alter the game's plot, adjusting when scripted events occur and lowering or raising the requirements to pass a level. "We should be able to improve the game for particular kinds of people," said Guillemot. "It is about AI reacting to your abilities. If a player is good, [it knows] what to give him and, if not as good, to give him alternatives. If you cannot do something after 20 tries, [the AI] makes sure you still progress."

Due on March 16 for all consoles and the PC, Pandora Tomorrow follows the further adventures of stealthy superspy Sam Fisher, voiced by the inimitable Michael Ironside. For a full debriefing on the game, access GameSpot's preview.
