Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE brings Snapdragon 778G in a familiar body
The ongoing global chipset shortage is no joke, Xiaomi could not keep up supply of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 780G SoC for its Mi 11 lite 5G and is thus launching the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE (New Edition) powered by the Snapdragon 778G chipset. The 778G uses TSMC's 6nm node instead of Samsung’s 5nm seen on the 780G. The only difference between the two phones is the chipset choice with the rest of the specs being identical.
You still get a 6.55-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The panel is HDR10+ certified and houses a tiny cutout for the 20MP selfie camera in the top left corner. Around the back, we have a 64MP main shooter next to an 8MP ultrawide snapper and a 5MP macro cam. The phone is also remarkably sleek for its size just like the two other 11 Lites from Xiaomi measuring just 6.81mm and weighing at 159 grams.
You can choose between 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage which is expandable via the microSD slot. The software front is covered by MIUI 12 on top of Android 11 while the battery comes in at 4,250mAh and supports 33W fast charging with the included wall plug. Other notables include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC and IP53 dust and splash protection.
The recommended retail price for the 6/128GB Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE is €369. An upgrade to 8GB RAM will increase that to €399. Color options include Truffle Black, Bubblegum Blue, Peach Pink and Snowflake White.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite stars in major leak - Snapdragon 732G SoC to run the show
Xiaomi announced the vanilla Mi 11 just last week and we expect a Pro version to follow sometime in February. But what about the Lite model? Well, thanks to a huge leak we now that's on the way too and we even got the majority of its specs. The scoop comes from an unusual source - a Vietnamese YouTuber.
According to him, the handset will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 732G. The chipset will be paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage while the display will be a flat IPS LCD of FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. An off-centered punch-hole design is also at hand with a rather thick chin if the renders are to be believed.
On the back, we have a triple camera setup with a slightly different design than the original Mi 11. The main sensor will be 64MP while the other two are expected to be 8MP and 5MP. The 8MP unit will likely be for ultrawide photography while the 5MP is likely one of those depth sensing or macro shots rather useless snappers.
The video also mentions a starting price tag of $350 while the possible release time frame is sometime around March. Given that his information comes from a Vietnamese source, the pricing and availability are likely for the Vietnamese market as well.
