A quick recap of some of the key specs - 11-inch 2560x1600px 120Hz IPS LCD with HDR10 support, Snapdragon 860 chipset and an ample 8,720mAh battery and with 33W charging over PD.

Xiaomi Pad 5 goes global

Interestingly enough, the Pad 5 for Europe ships with a 22.5W charger so need to get to the 33W charger separately if you want to maximize its charging potential.

The device also has four speakers and supports Xiaomi's Smart Pen, which snaps to the side using magnets. Notably, the Smart Pen's availability and pricing wasn't detailed at the event so we'll be on the lookout for more info on it.

Xiaomi Pad 5, Pad 5 Pro aim for glory with 11" TrueTone displays, powerful chipsets

Following the introduction of the Mix 4 smartphone, Xiaomi officially unveiled of the Pad 5 series - its first tablets in three years.

The lineup consists of a Wi-Fi-only vanilla Pad 5 and a Pad 5 Pro that has both Wi-Fi and a 5G-enabled version. The Pro runs on Snapdragon 870, while the Pad 5 settles for the Snapdragon 860, meaning they are among the most powerful Android tablets out there.

Both tablets come with an 11” display of 2560x1600 pixel resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The 10-bit panels come with support for Dolby Vision and HDR10 and promise up to 500 nits brightness, as well as the TrueTone technology, for adapting the colors and brightness to ambient light.

The pill-shaped camera island on the Pad 5 holds a single 13MP shooter, while the Wi-Fi-only Pro has a 13MP main and 5MP ultra-wide combo. The Pro 5G, on the other hand, upgrades the main camera to a 50MP sensor, while retaining the 5MP ultrawide unit.

The entire Pad 5 lineup supports a magnetic keyboard cover and stylus, just like the latest iPad Pro 11 and Galaxy Tab S7.

The Xiaomi stylus weighs 12.2 grams, has two buttons on its side, and offers a 240 Hz touch sampling rate. It has its own battery that can live 8 hours on a single charge. The magnetic keyboard is pretty much like any other accessory of its class, and the company will offer it in three colors to match the Pad 5 paint jobs.

The battery of the Pad 5 Pro has 8,600mAh capacity and comes with the 67W fast-charging - fastest ever in a tablet. The slate is also extremely light - just above 510 grams - and thin - 6.86mm. The non-Pro Pad 5 comes with a slightly bigger 8,720 mAh cell but is downgraded to 33W fast-charging - still quite rapid for a tablet.

The interface remains MIUI but is now adapted for tablets and brings multi-screen support for over 300 apps, provided they are opened on a Xiaomi smartphone. Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro also comes with four Dolby Atmos-tuned speakers - two on top and two on the bottom.

The base 6/128GB Xiaomi Pad 5 will cost CNY1,999 ($310), with doubling the storage pushing the price to CNY2,299 ($355). The Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 6GB/128GB version is CNY2,499 ($385), followed by the 6/256 GB unit at CNY2,799 ($430), while the top 8/256 GB variant with 5G capabilities is CNY3,499 ($540).

They are already available for pre-order in China, but the international wing of Xiaomi is keeping a lull on any overseas availability.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 certified with 8,520 mAh battery

Xiaomi is expected to launch the Mi Pad 5 tablet series. They are supposed to be a direct competition to the iPad Pros, the Galaxy Tab series and the Huawei Mate Pad Pro devices. One of the slates has now been certified at 3C with a dual 4,260 mAh battery, meaning the total charge is 8,520 mAh.

Rumors suggest two devices are incoming - vanilla Mi Pad 5 and a mightier Mi Pad 5 Pro. The Pro variant will have an LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate, In-Cell active pen technology and WQXGA aspect ratio with 2560 x 1600 resolution.

Renders also suggest three cameras in a setup, similar to the Mi 11 smartphone, although that would raise a valid question who in their right mind would buy a laptop for its camera capabilities, especially when you can get a proper smartphone.

Deve estar a dias de ser apresentado... Mas depois não sei quando estará disponível na Europa.

(A Samsung tem um evento em Agosto. Pode ser que haja descontos em tablets nessa altura.)

Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 rumors describe three models: two with S870, one with S860 chipset

Rumors of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 are starting to coalesce – there will be three models, plus a potential fourth slate, though that might turn out to be a Redmi tablet, so let’s put it aside for now.

Two models, let’s call them the Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro, will be powered by the Snapdragon 870 chipset. Both will support 67W fast charging for their 8,750 mAh batteries. The Pro model will have 5G connectivity and will feature a 48 MP camera on the rear. The vanilla model should be a Wi-Fi only tablet with a 12 MP camera.

All three tablets are said to use the same 10.9” IPS LCD with 120 Hz refresh rate and 240 Hz touch sampling rate. The expected resolution is 2,560 x 1,600 px. The display should also support a stylus with 4,096 levels of pressure, which will have a place to live in the keyboard cover that we saw in 3D renders earlier this month.

The third model, let’s call it the Mi Pad 5 Lite, will use the older Snapdragon 860 chipset and will also be a Wi-Fi only slate. The rumors claim that it will support 33W fast charging and that is supported by data from the 3C.

Interestingly, all three tablets will run MIUI 12.5 out of the box, missing out on MIUI 13, which is expected in August. The tablets themselves are also expected in August.

The fourth model we mentioned, the potential Redmi tablet, will be powered by a Snapdragon 768G (or maybe a Dimensity 1200) chipset. It might support 22.5W charging, if this FCC document is for the tablet in question. Not much else is known about this model.
