Nokia C5-03

Lest you thought Nokia had turned an entirely new leaf and shifted over to capacitive touchscreens for its finger-friendly handsets, the new Nokia C5-03 ruins that reputation by using a 3.2-inch 640 x 360 resistive panel. Still, that’s because this budget device is altogether more modest in its ambitions: it runs Symbian^1 (i.e. S60 5th Edition) and has a 5-megapixel camera.

You also don’t get the five-band HSPA of the N8 and C7, with the C5-03 having quadband GSM/EDGE and triband WCDMA (900/1900/2100). There’s also WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, A-GPS and a microUSB port, an FM radio (but no FM transmitter) and a microSD slot okay with up to 16GB cards.

There’s Ovi Mail, Ovi Maps and Ovi Store access, of course, and decent battery life too: up to 11.5hrs talktime or 25 days standby. Whether that – and the estimated €170 pre-tax and pre-subsidy price tag – will leave it sufficiently compelling is something we’ll have to wait and see about when it launches globally at the end of the year.

Boas,
Eu estou a pensar em comprar este telemovel quando chegar cá a Portugal.
Por isso queria que dissessem o preço e a data de chegada a Portugal quando tivessem a certeza.
Cumps.

Nokia has just released their latest touch-driven handset - the C5-03. Packing a distinctly youthful design, the Nokia C5-03 is yet another budget-minded smartphone by the Finnish manufacturer. It also packs great all round connectivity. Unfortunately, it runs on Symbian S60 5th edition, rather than the newer Symbian^3 OS. It's also looking a bit off the current trends with its resistive touchscreen.
When it was announced, Nokia promised a retail price of 225 US dollars (170 euro) before taxes for the C5-03, while current online offers go at about 290 US dollars. We are assuming that retailers are just charging an early adopters' fee and those prices will go down in time for Christmas, though.
At that point you will be left with an affordable handset with access to the Ovi store and free lifetime voice-guided navigation. Not to mention the wide range of available bright colors, which will be appreciated by the younger crowd.
This is all fine and dandy, but the Nokia device that everyone wants to see released before Christmas is the E7. Let's hope the Finns won't let us down.
