Passadas algumas horas...
Vamos ao ponto da situacao.
O PC1 (onde esta ligada a net por usb) faz ping positivo para o computador 2 mas nao o reconhece nem ve. Pior que isso e que nas ligacoes nao aprece nada e o assistente de ligacoes nao funciona. a placa de rede (que liga ao "switcher" que por sua vez liga ao PC2) tem a luz acesa. Quanto ao PC2 nao consegue fazer ping ao IP do primeiro mas (incrivel!) consegue reconhece-lo como parte da rede (apesar de nao conseguir aceder... diz caminho de rede nao encontrado.)
Agora ao ir ao ipconfig (na linha de comando) no PC1 nao me aparece nenhuma informacao. No entanto se fizer ping ao PC2 ele da que todos os pacotes foram entregues. estou a passar-me. Afinal so queria partilhar a net em 3 PC (no entanto ainda so estou a ligar 2) sendo que um estaria sempre ligado.Fui agora ao help do windows (XP home edition 5.1.2600) e fazendo um diagnostico deu este resultado:
