Last week, Notebook Italia spilled the beans on the Santa Rosa-based Asus A7S, F3SV, F3SC, A8SC and W7S. Today, the Italian publication has leaked two new Santa Rosa gaming notebooks from Asus: the G1S and the G2S.
The Asus G1S is the smaller of the two notebooks measuring 12.8" x 11.2" x 1.7" and weighing in at 6.8 pounds with an 8-cell battery. The notebook features a 15.4" screen with a WSXGA+ (1680x1050) screen resolution. Powering the display is an NVIDIA GeForce 8600M graphics processor with 256MB of dedicated video memory. Processing power comes from a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo T7500 processor while 2GB of 667MHz DDR2 memory is also included. Storage duties are handled by a 160GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive and a dual-layer SuperMulti DVD burner. Wireless functions are handled by a Bluetooth 2.0+EDR adapter and Intel's new Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN Draft-N network adapter.
The Asus G2S is the monster of the two weighing in at a lap-crushing 9.7 pounds and measuring 16.2" x 12.4" x 1.8". The major hardware specs for the G2S mirror those of the G1S with two exceptions: the G2S features a 200GB SATA hard drive and a 17" display with a whopping WUXGA (1920x1200) screen resolution.
Pricing for the G1S is listed at 1700 EUR ($2,306 USD) while the G2S is listed at 1900 EUR ($2,577 USD). Both notebooks come pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home Premium and will begin shipping later this month.
