An announcement that has been eagerly awaited in the DivX community: This week a company called BroadQ released a preview edition of the QCast Tuner Software, a very cool application that lets you play back DivX video to a television through your Sony Playstation 2 console. The QCast software supports all versions of DivX video at resolutions of 720x320 and below, and we are working with the BroadQ folks to optimize future versions for greater DivX compatibility. In addition to DivX playback, QCast offers support for MP3 audio, and MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video formats. So now you can lay back on your couch, play your favorite PS2 game, watch your favorite DivX movie, and listen to your favorite songs without moving a muscle. Ah, the joys of modern life.
