Nvidia's G70 is a GO

SINCE ATI is prepping the launch of its Radeon X1800 marchitecture. Fprmerly known as R520 aka Fudo - Raptor was the codename for the board, it is really no surprise that Nvidia is launching even more products based on its G70 architecture. After two desktop models, 7800GTX and its castrated sibling, 7800GT - the time has come for the mobile world, and G70Go. The product will be named GeForce Go7800GTX, and is oriented towards desktop replacement notebooks (DTRs).

The main features are even more aggressive power optimisation, dubbed PowerMizer, and upgradeable drivers from the official website. Unlike previous generations, Nvidia didn't allow itself to be bullied by "laptop-commies", and now the company has announced that over 10 OEMs, including Alienware, Falcon NW, Voodoo and others although the name "Dell" was not present on any of the slides, will offer support for classic ForceWare driver updates.

The clocks, as it usually is with mobile parts - are slightly reduced from the desktop counterpart. The mobile part works at 400MHz for the core and 550MHz DDR for the memory, offering slightly more than 35 GB/s of bandwidth, which is on the same level as previous model, GeForce Go 6800 Ultra. However, pixel and vertex processing power is on a whole another level, offering record "performance per watt", a term which in the next couple of years we'll be hearing from all industry spinners beyond the point of sanity.

Not to miss the tradition introduced with desktop 7800GTX, products featured on GeForce Go 7800GTX are also available at the launch day, which means you should check with your local gaming notebook dealer. µ
