Windows Media Player + Windows XP SP2 = Problema :\

Acabei agora de formatar o disco e instalar uma versão fresquinha do Windows XP Professional com o SP2 quando eu ia a instalar a versão 10 do Media Player e dá-me o seguinte:

Já tentei com 2 diferentes e dá-me sempre o mesmo erro. Qual o meu espanto quando carrego na versão que já vem instalado com o Windows (acho que é a 9) e dá exactamente a mesma mensagem de erro.

É esta a versão do Windows que eu custumo instalar e nunca me deu problemas :s


Gostava mesmo de resolver o problema.

It's getting narrowed down! Currently it appears that wmploc.dll in C:\Windows\System32 is the file causing hell for some users while trying to WMP 10. The solution might be rather simple, navigate to C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 and copy wmploc.dll to C:\Windows\System32. Now, run the WMP 10 installer again and see what you get.

To workaround this behavior:

1. Open a CMD.EXE window.

2. Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each line:

CD /D %SystemDrive%\
for /f "Tokens=*" %x in ('dir /b /a /s Wmploc.dll') do copy "%a" %SystemRoot%\System32\*.*

3. Install Windows Media Player 10.

Optei pela primeiro hipotese, apesar de não encontrar o tal ficheiro aqui (C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386) eu fiz o download no site do ficheiro (http://www.dlldump.com/dll-files/W_6.html) que precisava e copiei para o sitio certo, e voilá funcionou.
Só espero é que não tenha de fazer isto todas as vezes que instale o SO :s
