I recieved the KDL-32V4500 yesterday & here are my findings and settings.
Here are some pictures & comments!
GAMING: -360 and Ps3 @ 720p & 1080p (Downscaled)
This was the main reason I bought the TV. I am absolutly blown away! The colour and responsivness are just as tested - Top class. Really happy.
It was just amazing to see such vibrant colours and shapes moving a such speed, so smoothly! I know Sony have a reputation for "Live Colour" but seeing is believing and I am utterly impressed. This adds a whole dimension to gaming and I can't praise the TV enough for this purpose. COD4 felt like I was playing on a CRT, unbelievable. I don't think th 8ms statistic can be the same thing as "Input lag" as this set blows away my 19" that has a 5ms response time...
Nice work Sony!
FILM: 360 HD-DVD & PS3 Blu-ray @ 1080p/24 (Downscaled)
Average. Not as good as my 6th gen pio. The main issue is that fast moving objects seem to lose definition and sort of "Break up" in the background when I ran @ 24fps. There is no judder as such, but watching bond even simple scenes like people walking past him they seem to "Warp/Distort" a bit. Turning off 24fps reduced this effect, but then the film runs a shade too fast. I would appreciate input on this from other owners. I am using an NTSC PS3 with Region A Blu-Ray
SD TV (DVB Digital Tuner, MPEG 4, RiksTV)
The actual DVB implementation was great and easy/fast to tune. Nice simple EPG menus too. Maybe a bit drab colours, but at least it doesn't block out the picture like earlier models.
Performance of the TV itself was average, but this maybe down to the input signal. Massive amounts of MPEG noise and blockyness. Plenty of colour bleeding too...
RADIO
After adjusting the sound to max bass/treble then the performance was OK. I liked the fact the radio has a screen saver that you can choose. Nice touch Sony!
PC: 1to1 Pixel mapping 1360x768 @ 60hz.
This has dramatically blown away my expectations. Staggering quality and on par with my Dell 19" screen, but with 32" of realestate. For 700 quid this makes a very cheap "Large" monitor option. Brilliant. There is a tiny amount of shadow to some bright pixels, but I am using an old Laptop with VGA. I will try DVI later. I was impressed with the number of options for adjustment, including phaze. The auto adjust worked perfect for me.
General Build impressions
Excellent. I love the design and I really like the fact the bottom bezel is "Metalic Black" it looks far cooler than the silver of the W series. The screen is very tolerant of reflections, but the piano plastic does reflect light sources badly. I think Sony have taken style over functionality with that choice.
The screen is perfect, no clouding and not a single dead pixel. The remote is lightning fast and easy to use. The TV required mounting into it's stand. 3 screws and easy to do alone.
A lot of TV for the price!
