Upon its launch last month, Red Dead Redemption II was remarkable not only in the quality of its open world, but the level of polish and refinement lavished throughout. Apparently, CD Projekt RED is looking to achieve a similar level of quality and attention to detail in Cyberpunk 2077, when it eventually arrives.
"Without a doubt, quality is of paramount importance," CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kicinski stated in a
recent investors' call. "We strive to publish games which are as refined as Red Dead Redemption 2, and recent Rockstar releases in general. That game is excellent, by the way, we are rooting for it. Rave reviews, excellent sales."
Of course, CD Projekt RED is no stranger to excellent open worlds, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt still deservedly held up as one of the finest examples around. But even that game launched with its fair share of bugs and other issues, although they were gradually patched out and fixed.
"What does that teach us?" Kicinski continued. "Well, it teaches us that we need to publish extraordinary games, and that’s exactly what we are planning." He added that the studio is looking to "patch various bugs, both major and minor" before Cyberpunk 2077 releases, ensuring a polished product from day one.
While Cyberpunk 2077 has yet to be given a release date for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, Kicinski also noted that development on its ambitious RPG is "progressing fast and according to plan," which is encouraging. For more on Cyberpunk 2077, you can
