Here's something to rev up your hungry and eager racing engines to no end! Developer and publisher
Codemasters revealed today that it is planning to release
Colin McRae: DIRT this coming June. The company added that it is, in fact, gunning for a simultaneous launch for platforms
Xbox 360,
PlayStation 3, and the
PC.
This next installment to the successful
Colin McRae series is going to be Codemaster's
first next-gen rally title and for starters, it's pretty impressive. One of the company's spokespersons spilled the beans and according to him, "At the moment the guys in the studio are working towards June, more likely to be the end of June I'd imagine. As far as we're concerned internally, everything's on track."
One of the many things new to
DIRT is
Codemaster's Neon engine. Accordingly, this one was developed solely for the purpose of building the game from the ground up. Judging from
the various screenshots released of the game, we could say that Neon will do justice to
the mess and dirt this series has been known for. Take note that the game will also have multiplayer support as well as European, International, and Global rally championships.
So June it is for
Colin McRae: DIRT. We better make sure that even this early, our tanks are full and ready when the game finally careens to our preferred systems.
