While Nintendo fans may constantly argue over whether Mario or Zelda should make the leap into massively-multiplayer gaming, Pokemon is the one Nintendo franchise that absolutely everyone wants to see get the MMO treatment. Imagine a persistent world filled to the brim with wild, free-roaming Pokemon to be battled and tamed. Imagine traveling across an expansive 3D world to meet up with other trainers and hold tournaments against rival teams. A game like this would finally do justice to the "legendary Pokemon," allowing for huge, large-scale battles against fan-favorites like Articuno, Lugio, or Moltres. This is a game that absolutely needs to be made. It is a wonder that Nintendo isn't already hard at work on this project.
RUMOR - UK Pokemon Battle Revolution without friend codes says NGC Magazine
March 25th, 2007
A portion of an article from NGC magazine. I haven?t seen proof of the article just yet, perhaps one of our readers can help.
?the UK version of Pokemon will not have the restrictions of the friend code system?
I know that Pokemon Battle Revolution was unique in Japan, seeing that it was the first online game for the Wii before the online infrastructure was set up. I am not too sure how things will work around the world.
Update! - Have N-Gamer made a mistake?
Falafelkid over at nintend-revolution.blogspot has contacted the editor of the magazine, and the editor had this to say:
Unfortunately, the curse of the magazine lead time has struck again. Since we wrote this piece -- with the understanding that our information was correct -- Nintendo has seemingly confirmed that Pokemon Battle Revolution *will* use game-specific Friend Codes.
So, the game will use friend-codes, that much is a given. However, we are still not sure if it will use a single, unified code system or individual codes for each game.
